Local Guides submit edits on Google Maps to ensure their communities are accurately represented. After you add an edit to Google Maps, it’s reviewed by either local operators, an automated system, or both to ensure the information is accurate and follows our guidelines.

If your edit is Pending, that means we’re still reviewing it. We may need additional information to verify that your edit is accurate. It may take some time for us to gather that information and for fellow Local Guides to use the Check the facts feature on Google Maps to confirm the information you shared is correct.

If your edit is Not Applied, that means we were unable to confidently verify the information you shared at this time.

@MapWrangler Excellence! I'm reading your replies and these are some great insights. I did not even consider that a business registration "in processing" would auto-"Not applied" an addition by a local guide.

Thank you Wrangler. You found that spotty Allstate location that was in the same suite number, and that is at the top of the list for culprits. I'll give it a few days as you suggested, then try to add the place again. You rock!

I was always curious about why my edits in map were NOT APPLIED or was in Pending for long time. Now i got my answer.

If your edit is Not Applied, that means Google is unable to confidently verify the information you provided.

My question/issue is not why does a an edit end up "Not applied" but rather now that is has been "Not applied", how do we escalate this for correction? Should we know a location to be a duplicate or wrong location pin, etc... because its 5 minutes from our house and we frequent the establishment, how can we convince Google otherwise. There seems to be no system for that. Please advise.

Desde hace ya algunos meses, no puedo realizar cambios en los sitios, siempre aparece como “no se aplica”. Lo mismo ocurre si intento añadir sitios nuevos, aunque los acompañe de fotografías. Pero lo más extraño es que han desaparecido los sitios que había creado con anterioridad, a pesar de que muchos contaban también con reseñas y fotos de varios usuarios, algunos de ellos incluso de los propios propietarios.

Mam, my home address is not correct. I've tried several times to suggest an edit but kept getting Not Applied answer, while my neighbor next door got accepted to changing his address.

Hace ya hace 1 mes atras que google maps no me permite hacer ciertas modificaciones (marcar marcadores como inexistentes, mover los marcadores a su posicion correcta, etc) porque no me llegan los emails de confirmacion de la accion. Si lo que me permite es marcar duplicados de marcadores, hacer reportes de rutas mal dibujadas, etc. Soy el nivel mas alto en google maps (Nivel 10) ya hace un tiempo y calculo que debe tener que ver con eso el haber sueperado una cantidad exagerada de puntos que no me permite seguir modificando el mapa. Nunca viole los terminos o politicas de google maps con ninguna accion fuera de lugar y me gustaria que me den una respuesta o, en el mejor de los casos, que se solucione este inconveniente porque soy un asiduo usuario de google maps y contribui muchisimo a mejorarlo para hacerlo mas preciso. Espero la respuesta urgente de algun moderador. Gracias.

I have same problem. My edit is 100% correct but it is marked immediately as "Not Applied".

I have placed multiple requests to have my private driveway listed as a private road instead of public, since we are now receiving multiple people per day cutting through at unsafe speeds and causing damage to our property.  These requests have been made over the last several months through the maps app and none have been reviewed, all are in the "pending" status.

What's the point of this functionality if Google will not review the requests for months at a time leaving this problem completely unresolved?

I edited more than 20 places that is not approved yet. I've been there myself and submitted it when i was there.

Hi @bilbul,

The Google algorithms analyze different factors, such as the information submitted, the location of the input, your mapping activity, and other factors to make sure everything added to the map is accurate and follows our guidelines.

There are regions around the world where there simply is not enough information for some edits to come through successfully or immediately and it certainly has nothing to do with you personally. The more information you (or other Local Guide's) collect about a place gives your input a better chance of getting through.

If you have specifil issues, please feel free to ask your questions in the How-tos section, by adding details in your post about the place you would like to edit or to show the place that is still pending approval.

The last couple of days I have experienced that nothing of my contributions of new places and places that I wanted to update opening hours, mark as permanently closed or things like that have not been applied. It takes just 5-10 seconds to show that it has not been applied where it usually takes some days or even weeks for changes to be applied or not. I am supplying literally al information on the places, with address, opening hours, contact and even photos but it is just the same right now. What has happened??

Few edits take time to be approved and you might have experienced that few get approved instantly. There are a number of factors like exact name, location picked by maps, road name etc. 

Kindly wait for them to be approved else try to modify few details by adding them again.

When I added roads my edit is not published

But it can not be true that all that I have added in the last 3-4 weeks is not appliable. I have supplied name, street adress, email, website, opening hours if I know it and often pictures of the place.
Earlier I could have been waiting up to 1 week for newly added places to be applied or not but now it happens in 5-10 seconds that my entry has been rejected. Is that really right? I know Googles servers are fast but this is ridiculous fast. 

The picture below is from me just now trying to add a church for the third time this week. All information is supplied in the form and litteraly 15 seconds later the addition is rejected.
Why even bother to add places if this continues??

Hi @arshuspeaks in addition to the information provided by @Shirley Local Guides can report a missing road (via Send Feedback) and can add segments to an existing road but cannot directly add a missing road. Refer to this support article for guidance.

I am fully agree. Something wrong is going at place adding. From my experience, there are no issues at editing.

Google Moderators are Google employees. If you want to be Google moderator you have to work for Google first.
