Local Guides submit edits on Google Maps to ensure their communities are accurately represented. After you add an edit to Google Maps, it’s reviewed by either local operators, an automated system, or both to ensure the information is accurate and follows our guidelines.

If your edit is Pending, that means we’re still reviewing it. We may need additional information to verify that your edit is accurate. It may take some time for us to gather that information and for fellow Local Guides to use the Check the facts feature on Google Maps to confirm the information you shared is correct.

If your edit is Not Applied, that means we were unable to confidently verify the information you shared at this time.

We hope this doesn’t discourage you from being an active Local Guide. We appreciate all of your efforts to help make the world easier to navigate for millions of people around the world.

@Briggs, while that section regarding requesting updates does apply to some places, it woudl not apply here.  As I have already mentioned, Google Earth already has just as up to date imagery.  You are suggesting she ask for imagery to be added to Earth that is already there.

You have my full sympathies on this issue and I have also faced the same kind of officious treatment re: this issue.

The only help I have ever received on Local Connect  2.0 has come from other Local Guides who have more experience than I do and I have also been subjected to the same type of attitude and treatment as is evident in this comment thread from the usual suspects.

I really do not know what the role of moderators or Googlers is any more ...   other than to police this forum and to suppress any "product criticism" (the official term used by them in private correspondence).

Ironically I have not encountered many problems with the forever "Not Applied" issue until this week and am adding these experiences to the dossier I have been compiling for months now about the technical problems with the Google Maps "AI" system and how they could be handled far better.

I have an important meeting at the offices of Google in London next month and so will be having a serious discussion with the management team in the UK on these matters since in some cases there have been breaches of EU legislation that need to be highlighted.

In the meantime please don't let the way that you are being treated get you down.

Don't expect any of the moderators to "break ranks" and stand up for you.

They never do and you will also not find much evidence of them providing much help other than the tired-old canned responses from months or years ago.

There are a number of Local Guides which will be more than happy to help you and if you send me a private message and I will pass on their names to you.

In the meantime it would be best not to continue to discuss this situation online or you may receive a threatening (and anonymous) letter from the Local Connect team telling you that you could be removed without further warning.

I have already received two so far simply for being honest and outspoken.

Go figure.

Was the edit you said never showed up on the Map (that you linked to) the Vodafone Mini Store, Goregaon - Mhasla Road, Ambedkar Nagar, Goregaon, Maharashtra 402103, India?  If not, what was it?

What are some of the other many edits that never showed up?

The words jumped out at me that you said "I am very sure that the place exists" rather than "I know the place exists".  And while it may just be a matter of semantics and style, there is, IMNHO a significant difference between the two statements -- especially when it has been repeatedly said that edits to the Map are to made based on your own personal experience.  Is it your personal experience that these apartments exist, or are you relying on some other second-hand source for the information?

 What were those details? How/why did you decide to include the word "Senior" in the name?  What was the category you selected?  What was the phone number?

How long ago did you receive notice that the edit for the Vodafone Mini Store as well as the Yash Clinic were approved?  Google Maps and Google Search (as you may know) are separate products.  It can take up to a week (in some cases up to two weeks) for the edit (POI) to be indexed and searchable in Google Search.

@Thunderstorm, if you can link to the place then it is on the map.  Your edit to add it was successful.

 There are also a lot of not visible places.  Your place is not visible on the map like other not visible places.

The place label for your features display when they are searched. There is too many items on the map for them all to get a place label that always displays, so algorithms are used to figure out what to display based on what the user is likely seeking. There are many other features that are also not showing; you just do not realize because you cannot see them. There is no way to influence this, other than making the feature as accurate as possible.

But it really shouldn't be a problem; people don't randomly scroll around the map looking for a plumber, a church, a dentist, a tire shop, etc; but rather they search. When somene searches for the type of establishment you have mapped then it will appear in the results, so everything is working fine.

When someone enters no search terms at all or search terms unrelated to this feature, Google has determined that they are almost certainly not looking for this feature and thus it is safe not to show it. You should be aware that the algorithms constantly are re-run, so it may get an always visible place label; but then it might later again disappear.

Whenevr I try to add my organic Farm on Google Map , it's automated system make it "NOT APPLIED", I always submit all the true data then why it not add the place and it's automated system mark it as "NOT APPLIED" ?

Yes,  the place exists and I see it in person  daily. I chose Senior, because that's what it is called.  I selected a Seniors category also. There was no other category that was a better fit for a senior living community.

I get it.  ; )  There is lots of support for naming something on that basis.  That said, "Senior" is a descriptor and, bottom line, if it were my edit I would try submitting it simply as "McCrory Apartments" and let the category serve its purpose of defining what the feature is.  One example is Five Guys -- the nationwide burger place.  When it first appeared it was on Maps (everywhere) as "Five Guys Burgers and Fries" -- because that's what they called themselves ; )  It took time, many, many edits and likely pressure to get them to change their name on Google Maps to "Five Guys".  If this were a business directory or the Yellow Pages they could be "Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Shakes and Soft Drinks and more".  But Maps has very specific naming guidelines that apply around the world.

And yeah, there are hundreds -- thousands even of examples where descriptors are wrongly included in the name, and, as an aside, Google My Business isn't enforcing the location descriptor rule.

Is there a way to contact the verification team? They keep denying the changes in trying to put through regarding my work place. Beside the fact that it is a duplicate of our real listing, it also somehow has our private phone number listed that’s not for public use. I keep trying to change it but keep getting denied. It’s ridiculous because our private line rings off the hook all day with public calls and there’s nothing we can do about this ridiculous situation.

Saya sering mengedit suatu tempat yang sering kali salah dalam positioning. Beberapa ada yang langsung approved oleh Google, namun ada juga yang selalu ditolak, padahal saya berada di lokasi atau tahu betul bahwa tempat tersebut salah posisi.

Saya tidak mengerti bagaimana cara meyakinkan Google dalam hal ini 😁

Mungkin Google Maps perlu menambahkan satu syarat tambahan untuk edit posisi, yaitu Google Maps membaca dan mengambil data geotag si editor.

Yes i know with of those two (La sanahoria - La zanahoria) is correct, and that is why i tryed to delete the duplicate.

The other La Sanahoria claimed are in other places and seams to be correct, but the one in tryed to edit has some errors and has a duplicate.

Here is an screenshot of the last modificatiosn made by me, all of them denied.

The worst of all, is that just now, i modified a place to say it is a duplicate, and even though i received the confirmation email

It is not shown in the list of my contributions, not eaven as NOT APPLIED 😞

Hello, Today I started my car to get a places for editing ( uncover places, missing info ) 

I used my Huawei cell, when am done 4 places, it gave me the green check that I did will. When I checked by my other cell, the green checks are not show up !! LIKE I didn't do any editing !! And my second cell asks me to do the same editing I did with the Huawei, even I use the same gmail account. !!

Saya ingin tahu kenapa akhir² ini tempat yang saya tambahkan atau saya edit selalu tidak berlaku???  Padahal... GPS Saya menunjukkan saya sedang berada di lokasi tersebut. 

Apakah ini pertanda Saya diblokir oleh Google Maps???  Padahal sewaktu masih level 4 Saya sangat mudah sekali menambahkan tempat baru, kok malah sekarang makin susah dan lamaaaa...aaa sekali pendingnya?

emre 66Asia NudelnScreenshot Google Maps

Ein bereits erfasster Ort, der bis Juni 2018 "emre 66" hieß, heißt seit Juli 2018 "Asia Nudeln". Der Besitzer und das Angebot sind gleich geblieben, lediglich die optische Gestaltung (früher: schwarz als dominante Farbe, jetzt: grün) und - wie gesagt - der Name haben sich geändert.

Google Maps mag anscheinend den neuen Namen "Asia Nudeln" nicht, denn ich habe seither oftmals versucht, eine Namensänderung vorzuschlagen, aber binnen Sekunden meldet mir Google Maps jedesmal "nicht übernommen", das heißt, der Vorschlag kommt gar nicht zu einer richtigen Überprüfung, sondern wird vom Computer automatisch abgelehnt.

Warum ist das so? Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, den Namen trotzdem zu ändern?

Danke für Deine Antwort. Ich weiß, Du kannst hier nichts dafür, Du machst nur Deinen Job und der ist vermutlich so wie für alle Moderatoren hier in sehr engen Grenzen vorgegeben.

Trotzdem: Eure Standardantworten empfinde ich als äußerst widerlich und kontraproduktiv. Du empfiehlst mir, einen Beitrag mit Titel Why is my edit status “Pending” or “Not Applied”? zu lesen, der aus einer Zeit vor der großen Umstellung hier stammt, mit 261 Kommentaren, die zum Großteil nicht mehr aktuell und voll von nicht mehr funktionierenden Links sind. Wie gesagt, das ist nicht Deine Schuld. Aber es hilft mir überhaupt nicht weiter.

I have some huge problems on mapping in Cuba.

Most of the more local streets are not named in Google Map (but is in openstreetmap). This means that a lot of places are misplaced AND almost all new pleces a "Not Applied".

Even small villigaes are places kilometers away from there right place. Like putting Mathattan at Long Island.

What to do ?

Lo que me parece raro de Google Maps es que es muy dificil agregar sitios que no están en el mapa. Primero aparece el estado NO ALICADA, vuelvo a intentar y no aparece estado. Ya llevo más de un mes esperando a que el estado se actualicé y aparezca la Parroquia San Lorenzo en el mapa.

Un verdadero dolor de cabeza estar esperando.

Das war keine Standartantwort, einfach haben wir verschiedene Artikel über die Probleme, die die Local Guides haben und es ist auf diese Weise für sie leichter die Antwort zu finden, weil dort andere Personen auch ihre Ideen teilen. In diesem Artikel ist alles über das Problem beschrieben und Du kannst dort die Antwort finden. Deswegen  werde deinen Post im Artikel Why is my edit status “Pending” or “Not Applied”? bewegen.  Wenn dieses Unternehmen in Anspruch genommen wird, werden seine Änderungen vom Geschäftseigentümer abgelehnt.

Je ne comprends pas très bien le principe de fonctionnement pour faire approuver une modification. Et quand la modification n'est pas approuvée on ne peut rien faire là-dessus encore. Est ce que je travaille mal pour cela ?
