There are millions of Local Guides around the world who share reviews, photos, and knowledge on Google Maps. Doing this helps others find great local places, supports small businesses, and can even make it easier for people to get vital information. (Think about the importance of knowing whether a place is wheelchair accessible or the hours of operation for a nearby clinic.)

There are many reasons why Local Guides contribute, but whether you love to review vegetarian restaurants or add missing info, you can make a huge impact on a global scale. By sharing your knowledge on Google Maps, you’re telling your story and having it seen by people all around the world. Being a Local Guide could also lead to being featured in a Local Guides video or getting an invitation to Google-hosted Local Guides events like last year’s Summit or this year’s Connect Live. If you have a story you want to tell on camera, tell us about it using this casting form.

In addition to helping others, connecting with like-minded Local Guides, and getting your stories told, your contributions could also get you rewards. As a special surprise, rewards may be offered from time to time to say “thanks!” for being a Local Guide. Recent rewards include a digital subscription to The New York Times, free movie tickets from Atom, and discounted redBus tickets.

Didn’t get a reward? The Local Guides program is constantly evolving, and so are rewards. We are always looking to offer more rewards to more Local Guides, so be sure your email preferences have rewards emails enabled by visiting your Local Guides home.

If you have a suggested partner, or a reward you would like to see offered in your area, we welcome your feedback in the comments below.

Warm wishes and best regards from Moinesti, a beautiful small town from Moldavia province in Romania.

Google Maps is very important for me, a strong passion and a powerful hobby!

I'm very proud that our town is internationally recognized as Dada City - it is the place of birth for one of the most important dadaists, Tristan Tzara - born here in 1896, on April 16. When we celebrated his centennial, an amazing Romanian-German sculptor, named Ingo Glass, erected here an awesome monumental monument dedicated to Dadaism and to the memory and remembrance of Tristan Tzara - see the attached files - there you may see four letters D-A-D-A and, inside of those, the same letters twisted at 90 degrees, a brilliant idea!

Google Maps has changed how people get around. In a matter of years, we’ve gone from maps and printed directions to live maps with pictures and inputs from locals who know the area. The Local Guide Program brings together local users from all over the world and allows them to share the knowledge of their corner of the world. It can be in the form of pictures to help other find local businesses or answering simple questions for those who are new to the area. It works because of individual contribution from many people throughout the world. It helps take Google Maps to the next level.

Hello everyone!

My name is Andrea and I live in northern Italy, near Milan. As soon as I had the chance to share photos and reviews on google maps I never stopped. Being a Local Guide gives me the opportunity to share my experiences and recommendations with so many other people around the world. I really like to photograph what I see and write reviews of the places I visit. I find it exciting to be able to share information to help the community. In addition to adding photos and writing reviews, I'm interested in getting to know small local businesses, adding opening hours and information that is often lacking.

My motto is: share everything that can help others.

Google Local Guide is a very Great Platform to All of us which Helps to Choose the Best places to visit  Like Hotels, Restaurants ,Beaches, Parks, Temples, Fast foods, Travels, Malls, Gaming Stations, Hospitals, Shops, Cafes Etc.

I personally like to share my Reviews and opinions to society where ever i go or i visit the places.

And google is too fast to remind me and gives me Pop up as, Ex. Pavan You are at this Place And i quickly give the review.

Google Maps will keep growing.

And we can keep adding experiences to it. In the end, and even know, it will be and to some extent already is a database of global experiences.

I love answering questions on accessibility and sharing my knowledge to my local community and the world at large because I want to contribute my own quota to make this world accessible to everyone.

Google local  Guide helps in all the language to share our Reviews which makes its more Eco-Friendy

I am Happy to work with the Google Local Guide to Help and share My Experience with the Community.

Hello @TraciC

Thank you for your informative post.

I am adding new places but there is no option whether a place is wheelchair accessible or not. This is very important feature and may need a separate question to modify or add place option.

I am giving input when I am clicking "Answer question about a place" and if the question asked about wheelchair accessibility. Or I may write it on my review.

Hi @rabindra-n-das ,

When you answer questions about a place, it is automatically added to that place. You can check more about the place under Overview tab of that place.

It would show you about wheelchair accessibility and other responses to questions. You can also mention while writing a review.

Hope this answers your questions.

What I love sharing most on Google Maps are places where you can find nice people.

I'm really passionate about putting on Google Maps small places that are not yet listed, but only when the people there are kind, friendly and really provides a great experience.

I really believe that the most important in life is to meet people and make connections. That's why I love to recommend places where you are really welcome.

Like a pub where the owner's dog welcomes you and make you company!  🙂

PICT0008.JPG

Or a nice cafe is only complete when the owner happily talks to you, tell the cafe's history, ask about your life... That experience is really what makes me put this new place on the Maps.

What about you?

Love sharing pictures on google maps to let people know the view as we get to witness the beautiful sunset on the west side of Bandra which is located along the Arabian sea.

My adventure as a local guide began when I arrived in Paris (France) on August 30, 2017 for my law studies. By sharing the pictures of my places, especially the restaurants where I had lunch, the places of entertainment, the places where everybody would like to go, I created a personalized cartography of nice places.

When I started to understand the evolution system as a Local Guide, I was captured by the idea of recognition because by publishing more one had a recognition in terms of Local Guide level. It's a motivation policy.

Help others to meet, to know places without even visiting them was for me, a leitmotif and an impetus of solidarity in Paris, city of Love in its immensity. I invite you all to visit Paris, it's a heavenly place. I would like to know the United States, this is my next goal. Visit the world's leading power, is a dream.

I like answering questions about accessibility and review the best dishes of my region including the Tacos at O'Tacos of Evry (France), my first catch.
