Tips for Uploading Images to Connect to Stay Within Limit

Each Local Guide participating in Connect is currently limited to 1,000 photos that they may upload to Connect. For some, that may seem like an impossible number to reach and for others, you may reach that number quite quickly if you like to share a lot.

In general, when sharing photos on Connect, be sure you're sharing a photo that:

  • is a photo you took or have permission to share
  • is most relevant to your post and/or best represents the topic
  • is high-quality (it's not grainy or  blurry)
  • does not exceed 3,072K in size (if it does, try resizing it)

To help you stay within the photo limit, here are some tips:

You can upload photos to Connect in a few ways:

  • If you click on the Screen Shot 2017-11-16 at 1.46.23 PM.png(Photos) button above the body box when you are creating a post and click "Upload" this will upload a file from your computer or device to Connect and it will count against your limit
  • If you click on the Screen Shot 2017-11-16 at 1.46.23 PM.png(Photos) button above the body box when you are creating a post and click "URL" you can paste the URL of an image to upload it to Connect and it will count against your limit
  • If you click on the Screen Shot 2017-11-16 at 1.46.23 PM.png(Photos) button above the body box when you are creating a post and click "Saved Photos" you can select a photo you've already uploaded to Connect and it will not count against your limit
  • If you create or edit your post using HTML instead of the default Rich Text Editor Screen Shot 2017-11-16 at 3.44.34 PM.png, you can insert the following HTML to link to an image that is hosted elsewhere, like on Google Photos. That's right, you can right click on a Google Photos image to copy the image URL, then replace the text "IMAGEURL" in the below HTML with your photo's complete URL to insert your image and it will not count against your limit.

The HTML is: <img src="IMAGEURL"> Remember, it must be your image's URL, not a website's URL.

Live Photos(Motion Stills) is very fun. I have a plan to write the article "How to share Live Photos on Connect". How do you think?
