Connect is a community forum for Local Guides from all over the world to start conversations, share their experiences, provide feedback, and more. We appreciate your help in keeping Connect a welcoming and helpful place.

If you discover a post that you think violates Local Guides Connect content policies or does not follow the original content guidelines, you can flag it as inappropriate to let us know and a Google Moderator will carefully review it.

To report a post, click the three dots on the left side of the post.

  • Then, click Report Inappropriate Content.
  • On the next screen, explain why you think the post is obscene, offensive, spam, or violates our policies.
  • Click Notify Moderator to submit.

Google Moderators will review all posts flagged as inappropriate to determine whether they violate any policies. If so, appropriate action will be taken to address the issue.

Even though reviews are for everyone to see, it is important to make sure that the reviews made (good or bad) are still professional and do not inspire violence or hate in anyway.

Gracias anticipadas

Hi @PromilaRajput

this post is about reporting Inappropriate contents that are posted on the Community.

Please read this post to know how to report a Local Guide for inappropriate contents on google maps: How to identify and report fraud on Google Maps. - Adding @Eire27 to the conversation 🙂

Regarding your second question, for privacy concern, Google will never report to anyone the results of the investigations, nor the actions taken

Hello @ErmesT Sorry, I should have let a moderator answer the question. I know that Google would not notify anybody about result of enquiry etc. I was just trying to be helpful and make the answer as simple as possible. I will leave it to the professionals in future, I never usually answer such questions. Regards, Orla

You are welcome to help our Fellow Local Guides @Eire27. I joined the community a couple of years ago and I learned step by step, like everyone of the actual Connect Moderators and many others. So please don't give up, the spirit is the right one, this is the most important thing. Free free to ask, feel free to read, feel free make some mistake. Tag a moderator if needed, we will be happy to help you

@FinnAndreasT - If your question related to Street View in particular, I would recommend raising it on the Street View board which you would have access to with your Street View status. I will also tag one of the SV moderators to assist you: @SonyaN, @Yohanad, @VicL1

I am not available to respond on the weekend

Hi @Jrigler86,

I'm sorry to learn about your bad experience. Please note that for all business related activities, it would be best if you reach out to the Google My Business Help Forum. If you are not familiar what Google My Business is and you want to learn more about this program, feel free to check their official page. If you want to report a problem you are having with reviews, please follow the instructions in the following article Flag inappropriate reviews.

Keep in mind, Local Guides is a voluntary program and it is obligatory that people participate in it not as business. You can read more - "Why be a Local Guide?"

Hi I want to report a problem that I personally created, by accident.  When I was uploading pictures of places I had visited, which I have a lot.  I hit the upload button, but it seemed that within seconds the task would stop.  So I kept re - starting the upload and later realized that the upload had been working and I ended up loading duplicate and multiple copies of the pictures by accident.  Is there any way google can delete the duplicates ? or is there a way I can go in there a delete them all in a batch ?  they are too many to delete one by one ...please let me know.  And my apaologies for the mistake. Thank you.

Hi @Guillermomiami,

Thanks for reaching out. You can delete your duplicate photos as it's explained in  this article on how to Add, remove, or share photos and videos on Google Maps which is very useful and might be the exact answer to your question. Another thing you could do is to ask your question on the Google Maps Help Forum where you could find even more information.

Thank you @BruceDM for your helpful article. It is an important feature indeed.

Hello,

Please move this post if not in the correct forum.

In the post "How Do I Report Content on Google Maps?" by @GusMoreira on 04-12-2017, under "Reporting a Local Guide", the link for "tagging a Google Moderator" is broken resulting in an Access Denied error message.

Thank you.

Connect Moderator

Thank you for letting us know, @MapWrangler.

You are referring to a post that is in the Old Version of Connect, and it is now replaced by a new post in the actual help desk board

How to identify and report fraud on Google Maps

Old post in a section of the community that is right now accessible only through a direct link, don't necessary need to be updated

Level 10

Hi @ErmesT,

"Old post in a section of the community that is right now accessible only through a direct link, don't necessary need to be updated"

This is, of course, correct.  FYI,  I took the time to report the link as the post from Gus containing the outdated link is often included in answers from Product Experts in the Map & Google Earth Help Forum, such as this post today.  Perhaps ideally, as this is a link from the old Connect 1.0 forum, I ought to try to find the source of the outdated info the Map PEs are using ... however, my hunch is that even if I did, the source would be something I couldn't fix, or the PE's (and others) are using bookmarked references with the old data ; )

Connect Moderator

What you mean is clear @MapWrangler

I would like to add that the Product Experts in the Map & Google Earth Help Forum are addressing the User to post here in Connect for a very few points, and Spam reporting is the most common. The post that I linked to you is dated November 29, 2017. Until August 2018, when Connect migrated to the new version, there was an automatic redirection from Gus post to Rodrigo's post. Probably the redirection broke with the migration @NadyaPN, but I don't know if it make sense to update it.

In any case, you did a good job, @MapWranglerReporting map comment spam

Former Google Contributor

Hi @MapWrangler and @ErmesT,

Thank you both for flagging and discussing this. It's important for us to find out about such discrepancies.

Currently both of the topics you mentioned are in the Help Desk, which means they are migrated to the new Connect. I've edited the older post and changed the Google Moderator link with the latest one, so it should be working properly.

Thanks again and don't hesitate to tag me if you find something similar in the future.

EDIT: I now realized that Gus's topic is actually in the old Help Desk. Thanks!

Due to the volume of private messages Googlers receive, I do not read or respond to private messages. Please post publicly so others may benefit from your discussion. If you require urgent assistance, please tag a Google Moderator. Thank you!

Thank you @AriMar for another informative post.

I have a question in my mind.

What should we write when we are notifying moderator, like if whenever I see somebody is advertising on connect with contact information, usually I just write "advertisement" in the box. So I should explain it with more detail, or just the single word "advertisement"  will be enough ?

  • Then, click Report Inappropriate Content.
