There is no salary and is a voluntary action about the perks This is the old system and it's been updated. 

The points and badge system is revised with updates on the perks too please check the recent points, levels and recognition badging rules on the following link.

It was posted 1.5 year ago. During this time Local Guides rules has changed. Now, there is no free storage for achieving any level, there is new points system and new levels.

Old rules are deprecated and no longer valid. The rules  were changed in June 2017.
