@patty1996, macros are "boilerplate" or "canned" responses that you can paste into any message.Macros are very useful when you are replying to posts that require more or less the same message.
To set up a macro:
Sign in to the community
Go to My Settings > Macros
Enter name in the Macro Title field
In the Macro box, enter your message
Click Save
To use a macro in your post:
Go to a post
In the Body field, place your cursor where you want to add the macro
Tap on the Macros menu on the top right corner and select the macro you want to add

Macro is a simply way to prepare automatic answers and use them to reply to most asked questions. First, on Connect Home page click on Start a Discussion You can also do it from any forum. Because you first need the body field to compose your message.
Imagine you observe that Local Guides ask a lot about "How to add photos to Maps". Then you want to create a Macro "Add Photos".
In the body field of your message write (for example) :
To add photos to Maps you should follow step 1, step 2 and step 3 For more information, see Google FAQ (you can add a link).
When your message finished, go to your settings (click top right to open panel). Then choose My Settings
Click on MACROS You will find a list of 50 empty macros. Choose Macro 1 to begin Give it a title : in our example Add Photos Return to message you wrote before and click on HTML to copy it
Go back to your Settings/MACROS
Tittle : Add Photos
Macro 1 : In this field, paste your htlm code (do not select <p> &</p> Tags)
Last, do not forget to save your work (go to bottom of page).
Now you create your first Macro and can use it simply when a Local Guide asking for how to add photos on Maps.
You just have to do as usual : open the post to reply and in the body of your message, on right, open Macro window to select your Macro.
