As mentioned above, Local Guides isn't about perks. They are not payment for a service, they are a reward along the journey. The real reason to be a Local Guide is helping other people in the same way their reviews and ratings help you.

In any case, there are some benefits for your contribution. For example, players level 2 and up will continue to earn occasional perks from Google, like early access to new features. But those level 4 and above will receive a free three-month Google Play Music subscription and 75 percent off Play Movies rentals (keep in mind that this perk is only available to customers who are not current Google Play Music subscribers, and have not been Google Play Music subscribers or participated in a Google Play Music trial in the past 12 months). Also, some higher level Local Guides may receive invitations to attend special events held by Google (Events).

1. The first benefit is you will help the community (I hope you have used google maps, and have seen how much helpful it is); the same community you get help from . You are making the tool you are utilizing more powerful.

2. Based on your level, and the region you reside there are different kinds of perks you receive.

3. You might also get the opportunity of participating in a summit hosted by google maps (google).
