If you like cats, Houtong Cat's Village is a good place for you.
Located at Ruifang District, Houtong is a small village in the mountain area that was built for coal mining in the early 20th century.
During the golden age, this village has up to 6,000 residents for coal mining.
In 1990, due to the depletion of coal mine makes more and more people moved out of Houtong and the population declining quickly.
There have many cats living here and people try to build a cat-friendly environment in 2009. Now, here becomes a famous sightseeing spot.
You can arrive here very easily by train.
Houtong Station, a stop on "Ping-Xi Line". Take the train from Taipei Main Station to here just take 1 hour.
Or, if you plan to visit the "Sky Lantern Festival", here is a place you can stop by on your way to Pingxi.

@PHWang This looks like such an amazing place. I have not heard of this place before. Are these cats owned by people or they just live in the streets?

Hi @StephenAbraham , Some of the cats are the stray cat and some of the cats wear collars seems owned by people, but also sleeping everywhere, so I do not sure whether those cats are owned by people or not.😁
