Travelling to tenggarong

Tenggarong_171118_0069.jpg

Tenggarong is also the capital of the Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate, Martadipura. The city was founded on September 28, 1782 by the 15th King of Kutai Kartanegara, Aji Muhammad Muslihuddin, also known as Aji Imbut. Originally the city was named Tepian Pandan when Aji Imbut moved the royal capital from Pemarangan. By the Sultan of Kutai, the name Tepian Pandan was later changed to Tangga Arung which means the king's house. But in its development, Tangga Arung is more popularly known as "Tenggarong" to date. According to the legend of the Benuaq Dayak People from the Ningkah Olo group, the name / word Tenggarong according to the Benuaq Dayak language is "Tengkarukng" derived from the words tengkaq and bengkarukng, tengkaq means to go up or set foot to a higher place (such as climbing stairs), bengkarukng root crops. According to the Benuaq people, when a group of Benuaq people (possibly Ningkah Olo descendants) along the Mahakam River headed inland they stopped somewhere along the edge of the Mahakam, by climbing the cliff of the Mahakam river through the roots of bengkarukng, which is why Tengkarukng is called by a Malay accent "sprained" called Tengkarong, over time the mention changed to Tenggarong. The change is due to the fact that Benuaq has many consonants that are difficult to say by speakers who speak Malay / Indonesian.

There are several tourist attractions that can be found in Tenggarong like the mulawarman museum, ladaya (crocodile field), kumala island (an island in the middle of the mahakam river and having a variety of family recreation vehicles), panji sukarame reservoirs, and much more. So, if you come to East Kalimantan don't forget to go to Tenggarong !!! see ya ^.^

Hi @wildania05

Welcome to Connect.

I just would like to inform you that I've edited your post a bit to be more well exposed to the others.

Tenggarong seems to be a really nice city. I wonder if you have more photos to share with us?
