The Kazimierz district in Krakow.

The Kazimierez district is the hictorical Jewish part of Krakow. Its narrow streets and courts are rich in masperpieces of Jewish architecture. It is also a center of artistic life.

The first settlers settled in this quarter in the 14th century. The place is very quiet, cozy, you can say authentic and colorful., not like the old town of Krakow. It has its own charm. The quarter itself is not large in area, there are several synagogues. Many buildings were destroyed during the second world war. Residents of Kazimierz were Killed in the Nazi death camps ,mainly to Auschwitz. Despite the fact that the quarter was destroyed during the war,7 synagogues can be seen.IMG_20180919_175529.jpgIMG_20180919_140837.jpgIMG_20180919_175553.jpgIMG_20180919_182717.jpgIMG_20180919_175648.jpgIMG_20180919_183415.jpgIMG_20180920_114759.jpgIMG_20180920_122838.jpgIMG_20180920_122902.jpgIMG_20180920_122914.jpg

Walking in this district you have a chance to hear and see Jewish life  in Krakow.,see Old Synagogue.,The Tempel Synagogue. The Old  Synagogue was built at the end of 14-th century.During the Second World war the building was badly damaged ,but  reconstructed. It is also serves as the oldest surving example of Jewish  religious architecture in Poland.

The  hot spot surrounded by buildings that witnessed  horrors of the Holocaust is also a place where Jewish  culture has flourished for centures.

Kazimierz district was a film set for Steven Spielberg's Oscar-winning '' SCHINDLER' S LIST'' We also see the district of Podgorze ,we is Schingler's Factory.

Oh, @helga19, so beautiful that you wanted to share this historical district of Krakow with us.

Indeed the European Meet-up is a source for a lot of interesting post. Myself and @AntonellaGr we didn't had the time for the visit, so I am very happy to read it now, through your experience of the place
