Soak in the last of Summer at these NYC Pools

1 Hotel BK.jpgNew Yorkers have access to many sun-filled oasis pools offering bar service, private cabanas and poolside dining; an elevated escape from the hot cement without having to leave the city. While the Cape and the Hamptons may feel like too much of an effort, try opting for a little staycation in the concrete jungle and splash into some of the amazing pools that the city has to offer. Gather your squad, take a dip in these posh NYC pools and be prepared for excessive tan lines, plenty of envy worthy poolside Instagram posts and getting tipsy with a view. Pool floats not included.

1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

Panoramic views of downtown Manhattan all the way to Lady Liberty await at the rooftop pool of the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge on the Brooklyn Bridge Heights waterfront making the perfect setting for your envious Instagram shot. The pool is only open to hotel guests due to high demand, but we promise, the summer bites from chef Michael Oliver and the refreshing cocktail menu and exquisite views are well worth a staycation.

Park Hyatt

Occupying the lower floors of the magnificent One57 residence is the stunning indoor pool on the 25thfloor of the Park Hyatt, located on “Millionaire Row”, just down the block from Carnegie Hall. Not surprisingly, this 61-foot pool is only open to hotel guests, residents of the swanky condo One57 or with the purchase of a spa treatment, but it’s well worth a staycation in the city. The tranquil vibe, floor to ceiling windows boasting stunning city views below and underwater speakers playing a curated Carnegie Hall soundtrack classical music will make you think you are not even in the concrete jungle anymore. Talk about a little culture with a side of relaxation.

Dumbo House

All of the cool kids have been spending much more time in Brooklyn and now with the latest addition of Soho House’s members only outpost in Dumbo, it’s about to get a lot more crowded with Manhattanites. Located in the most enviable and one of the most picturesque spost in Dumbo surrounded by cabanas, you will see the Brooklyn Bridge to your left and the Manhattan Bridge to your right; not too shabby. It’s a given that exactly like Soho house, you need a membership to get to this rooftop, but hey, with views like that, it may be worth that membership fee.

The William Vale

In this little corner of Williamsburg heaven, you will find the longest hotel pool in Brooklyn and greater New York City (additionally open to the public), boasting a whopping 60 feet ready for all your summertime pool splashing. Sweeping views of the Brooklyn Bridge while munching on bites from Chef Andrew Carmellini will cost a pretty penny though; three-person pergola ($150 on weekdays, $200 on weekends) to a six-person cabana ($400 to $550). On weekends, you can also book a lounge chair ($45) or daybed ($100) on the adjacent terrace.

Profundo Day Club

A resort style getaway where South Beach meets St. Tropez in this gorgeous open-air space with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, iconic Silvercup Studios sign and the Queensboro bridge. Just a quick train ride to Long Island City, the Profundo Day Club is open to the public for a $50- day pass which includes a swag bag of pool essentials that will make your retreat all the more perfect. Order a tiki drink, something from the raw bar or a fruit bowl for delicious light afternoon fare. A DJ spins 7 days a week so you don’t need to necessarily go on the weekend for all the fun. St. Tropez awaits, just 10 min away.

Mr. Purple

Located on the 15thfloor of the Hotel Indigo in the Lower East Side, this popular rooftop space captures the vibrant ambiance of all the cool downtown kids. The outdoor terrace boasts a 360-degree view of downtown Manhattan, including a swimming pool, lounge benches and high tops for the perfect setting for watching that summer sunset with a cocktail in hand. If you plan to lounge during the day and get your tan on, there is a table minimum to secure a poolside chair, but if swimming is the only thing on your mind, a day pass will suffice.

Jimmy at The James New York

This swanky concrete halo Soho rooftop terrace is a summertime hotspot boasting magnificent views of the Hudson River, Downtown and Midtown. While the pool is more of a waddling pool, you will be too busy sipping on a frozen cocktail from their extensive menu and jamming out to the sounds of the nearby DJ to notice. The space is open year round, but the pool is especially stellar during the summer months when you can chill under the stars while dipping your toes into the pool.

La Piscine at Hôtel Americano

This hidden gem pool in Chelsea at the Hotel Americano sits between the High Line and the Hudson River and is open to non-guests for $40 for a day pass. Poolside daybeds offer expansive views of Manhattan and makes for a great work from home office. The menu pays homage to its Mexican roots with Latin infused fare like ceviche, swordfish tacos and a frozen margarita with jalapeño-infused tequila.

Soho House

The “Who’s who” of rooftop pools, the SoHo House’s 6thfloor rooftop pool is an undeniable summertime hotspot. Despite being notorious for keeping its members only status, try to score an invite via a member so that you can enjoy a swim in the 32 foot heated pool or just sink into the plush purple and white poolside chaise lounger while soaking in views of Manhattan and the Hudson river. This rooftop is spacious, known for celebrity sightings and arguable one of the most exclusive pool settings in the city. Only rule, no cell phones so your Instagram posts will have to wait.

The Beach at the Dream Hotel

Channeling the glamour of the Côte d’Azur right here in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, the Dream Downtown boasts a 4,800 square foot beach and glass bottom swimming pool looking into the hotel lobby accompanied by Hamptons imported sand and private cabanas that include flat screen TVs and chaise lounges. Luckily, you don’t have to be a hotel guest to hit up The Beach at Dream Downtown- all day pool passes are available for purchase ($60 day pass, $1,500 Cabana) and the restaurant is open to the public. If you want a more exclusive membership, The Dream now offers only 100 “KEYED IN” memberships ($999) that allows fun perks all summer long like access with a +1 to the pool, gym access, preferred entrance to PHD rooftop and Electric Room, house margarita at Bodega Negra, glass of rose at Dream Beach and 20% discount on room bookings at any Dream Hotel location. So grab a unicorn floatie, pack a bag and turn on your out of office message.

McCarren Hotel and Pool

This Williamsburg pool scene is Brooklyn’s answer to all the chic Manhattan pool setups. While this oversized heated pool is not on a roof, this 4,800 square-foot pool deck hosts live bands and DJs that play to a packed house of stylish scenesters. For $45 for a weekday pass and $64 for a weekend pass, you gain pool access and can lounge on wooden terrace benches including towels and WiFi access.

Sixty LES Hotel

This luxe Lower East Side hotel makes swimming with Andy Warhol a possibility. This chic rooftop has a pool with an Andy Warhol filmstrip printed on the floor of the pool and is typically only for hotel guests. However, during the summer months, the property hosts killer pool parties featuring DJs and popup shops for in the know individuals. Don’t say we didn’t tell you.

Gansevoort Meatpacking

This NYC Meatpacking spot has been a hotspot in large part due to its 45 foot heated rooftop pool nestled within a landscaped garden, with an impressive view of the city, open year round. Be immediately transported to the Saraha with Moroccan lamps, colorful textiles and exotic plants while serving Mediterranean dishes and unique cocktails. PS. Be on the lookout for their secret garden.  We’d say, well worth the $250 day pass.

Le Parker Meridien

Anyone up for a swim on top of the world? This Midtown pool features floor to ceiling windows that overlooks gorgeous Central Park, giving you the outdoor ambiance minus the sweltering summer heat. There is an outdoor deck for you to dry off in the sun and enjoy delicious drinks and snacks. Day passes are available for $150, for those not staying at the hotel. Not a scene but definitely a day for yourself to recharge.

Le Bain

This ultra cool kid hangout is a discotheque and rooftop bar at The Standard High Line hotel in which entry is determined by the stern faced bouncers. Featuring an incredible sound system and rotating world famous DJs, the summer months have patrons dancing on the grass-covered rooftop and slipping into the plunge pool to cool off. Arrive in your summer best, flash a smile to the bouncer and hopefully you are allowed entry.

Equinox Printing House

If you’re trying to show off that summer bikini bod you have worked so hard on, the Equinox Printing House pool is for you. Quite the scene for beautifully fit individuals; this pool is exclusively available for those willing to pay for the $175/ month gym access for this specific Equinox location. Not a member, no problem. Treat yourself to a spa treatment and this rooftop pool with stunning Hudson River views and accompanying sundeck access is yours.

Baccarat Hotel

This ultra-luxe and private 50- foot indoor pool with marble tile flooring is inspired by the beauty of the Cote d’Azur and is surrounded by ultra modern four poster cabanas. While this pool is not a scene and does not boast views or sit on a rooftop, its tranquil and peaceful environment will have you chilling hard and feeling like pure royalty. Unsurprisingly, this pool is only available to hotel guests so book a staycation to enjoy this glamorous gem.
