50 years ago on this day, the united armies of the Warsaw Pact entered Czechoslovakia to occupy the country. The act, that turned out to be the largest military operation in Europe after the WWII, was motivated by fear of liberal movement in Czechoslovakia, culminating in the Spring of 1968 (and called thereafter Prague Spring) that was slowly introducing elements of democracy and freedom into the totalitarian communist regime. The invasion and consequent occupation stopped and reverted all the positive changes and started a process called "normalization" - totalitarian measures devastating for the economy of the country, souls of people and the spirit of the nation.

Hi @CaptainHook
Thank you for remembering this anniversary. Reading and remembering events like this one must be a wake-up call for us when we think about the freedom that we have nowadays, and what the previous generations went through to obtain it.

We are watching the events of the standoff on TV in Germany this week. So it is not forgotten.
Czech people are very courageous people!
