Recap: Accessible Oniru

Accessible Oniru

On Friday February 08, we took our accessibility meet to Oniru which is an extension of Victoria Island with proximity to the Atlantic beach stretch.

Seven Local Guides (old and new) assembled at the Landmark Centre before 11: 30am. We proceeded to Ligali Ayorinde Road to capture a few businesses and shop fronts. Due to the heavy down pour earlier in the morning, most of the roads were flooded, so we had to hire a tricycle and this limited our ability to cover more places.

The Water Corporation and Ligali Ayorinde Roads didn't have standard walkways and ramps which can enable people with disabilities move easily.

Back to the Landmark Village for editing and interaction. We learned how to take 360 photos with a smartphone. Ahmed was able to take his first two 360 images. Amaka made her first review.

At the Landmark Events Centre, there's a mobile ramp into the building and barrier free floor across the halls. It also had dedicated accessible restroom with hand rails but no sign to indicate.Caption: An accessible restroom with handrails for people with special needs.Caption: An accessible restroom with handrails for people with special needs.

Photo session followed at Hard Rock and Shiro, two of Lagos' s most popular cafe/restaurant. There's some doughnuts, sandwiches, soft drink and beer for refreshment.

We met four Local Guides who didn't know about the Connect Forum nor the Community in Lagos but have been integrated.

To crown the day, we met a four year old Photographer who wowed us with her skills. She wanted to know about the 360 camera and local guides. Seems like it was very successful, you had a good time, improved Google Maps and met new people.
