[RECAP] Surviving the Bermuda Triangle (Meetup in Bochum, Germany on 12/12/2018)

Let me start with the good news: we did survive! All of us made it through in perfect health, but what an experience it was... There was darkness, there were stars and freezing temperatures, but there was also fire. And most amazingly: I experienced a genuine time-warp! It all started out on a Wednesday evening at 19:00 and was supposed to last until 21:00 - of that same day of course. But lo and behold, when I finally got out of it, the clock indicated 01:00 AM, and to my utter surprise...not on Thursday, but on Friday. So there might be some truth in all those Bermuda Triangle mystery stories after all?

I will gladly answer that question myself: no, there is no truth whatsoever in all those Bermuda Triangle stories. There is always a perfectly logical explanation for the stories that are usually told in a spectacular way to mainly sell more newspapers / get more viewers / generate more clicks.

And also in this case there is a perfectly good explanation: there was the original event on Wednesday (which lasted until 22:00), but we agreed to meet again one day later to engage in some night photography, as the 2 other local guides that had showed up were already planning to do that.

Here is what happened.

We met the first evening in the city area called Bermuda 3Eck (that's an alternative way of writing the German word for triangle) in the German city Bochum, with all parties concerned not really sure what to expect. Apart from me there were 2 other local guides, a couple living nearby, who are mainly into photography, both 'regular' [should we call that 90 photography?] and 360 photography. To get to know each other a bit better, we decided to 'first go for a drink' - which then ended up lasting the entire evening (I'm pretty confident that this is not the first meetup to proceed that way ?). We ended up in a very nice bar called 'Lennox' where we had some food and drinks (no pictures of that - I gladly leave food pics to the specialists and then enjoy the food while it is still hot; I did take some pictures of the interior and the one shown on top of this post made it to the second place for that POI on maps and already collected over a thousand views in just a few days).

We talked about a lot of LG topics, made some test 360 videos and agreed to meet again the next evening as this was the evening and night on which the falling stars know as Geminids could be seen (the other LGs had already planned an event in the unofficial Facebook LG group). The idea was to make pictures of the stars using timelapse techniques, but I was not able to stay all night (some people do have day jobs), so I'm not sure what the final outcome was - did I mention already that it was freezing cold?

Anyway: on that second evening we were joined by another young man, who is (not yet,?) a local guide, but was also quite curious to see what might happen with the stars. We met at the Friedenskirche in Wattenscheid (which is part of Bochum). As the sky was still quite cloudy when we met around 11 PM, we engaged in some 360 fire photography - as shown in the picture below. Looks like fun, right? Well, I can confirm it is ?. It also made me realize that 360 photography is definitely a topic worth looking into a bit more.

@AlexaAC if one is having that much fun, one would be quite silly not to make sure it happens again in the future 😄

Meet Ups ending or starting in a bar are always nice. I did HEAR 👂 that they are really quite funny 😉

So, you heard other people talk about that @TorM, which implies that you have no first hand experience yourself? Some people might have their doubt about that 😜
