Private Messages and Google Moderators

Hello everyone!

Many of you are already aware of the private messaging feature which allows you to send a message directly to another Local Guide here on Connect.  If you are not aware how private messages work, please check out this legacy post here which gives instructions on how you can use private messages and even turn the feature off should you prefer 🙂

This post is a quick reminder to everyone in the community that Google Moderators do not read or respond to private messages due to the large volume we receive.  If you have an issue you would like to share or something you would like to report, we ask that you please use the public forums to start the discussion so that others might benefit from the conversation.  

As always, feel free to tag a Google or Connect moderator to ensure we will see your post.  Thank you again and look forward to speaking with you 🙂

@CaptainHook - hahaha yes that might be true for the 5% that don't listen to me haha.

@FazeelUsmani - We always reply if you tag us in a post although if you send me a private message, while I do get a notification, I do not read or reply as the volume I receive is too high and any answers I give will always be in our public forums - for everybody to see.

Incase you didn't know we all have the option for turning off private messages in this post if you are interested.  My original post is a soft reminder to remember to share your questions publicly 🙂

@ayann - Most people in the community are seasoned users of Connect and are aware that questions are best answered via public posts. The first thing you should always try to do is search to see if the question has already been answered and if not, ask publicly. Often times, many of our Local Guides have the answer you need already and might even respond faster than a Moderator might!

Excellent reminder and I appreciate it very much. 

But a moderator's name like BruceDM, sometimes Local Guides might be mistaken thinking BruceDM = Bruce Direct Message.

😂😂😂 I was just kidding. 

Definitely tagging a moderator and discussing the issue public is best.
