I guess there are no real benefits, it´s just nice to have

like the whole local guides program ... you do something for the community, upload photos , write reviews... you help other people with that stuff and get points and badges for it

perhaps google will give some goodies again, a year ago i got the 2TB GDrive for 2 years, that was quite cool
