International day of yoga is also called as the world yoga day. United Nations General Assembly has declared 21st of June as an International Yoga Day on 11th of December in 2014. Yoga in India is considered to be around 5,000 year old mental, physical and spiritual practice. Yoga was originated in India in ancient time when people were used of meditation to transform their body and mind.
The idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by the current Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi during his speech at the UNGA, on 27 September 2014
The announcement of International Yoga Day was a great moment for India because the UN General Assembly announced its event within just three months of its arrival. The General Assembly announced on December 11, 2014 that 21st day will be celebrated as Yoga Day in the world.
YOGA is ancient Indian word which stands for the union, union of mind with soul and body. Word Yoga is derived from a Sanskrit word “Yuj”, which means “ to unite or to integrate”. Yoga is the settling of the mind into silence when the mind has settled, we are established in our essential nature, which is unbounded consciousness, our essential nature is usually overshadowed by the activity of the mind, it also helps us to maintain our lifestyle.
According to the National Priority to increase awareness of yoga, to properly celebrate the International Day of Yoga, all the members, supervisor state, the United Nations Organization Institute, the other educational institution, regional organization, civil society, government organization, non-official Organizations and individuals gather in person
