There aren't many official Google organized events. The most anticipated yearly is the worldwide Connect Live held once a year in San Francisco which interested Local Guides can apply for. Announcements will be made in Connect usually March or April time frame. So stay active here. Usually the more common events are locally organized meet ups by Local Guides ourselves. You can look up the meet up site here. https://maps.google.com/localguides/meetup
And check if there are arranged meet-ups near you. Or, if you don't find one coming soon, you can also arrange your own meet-up, all information is the link above.
