How do I report a missing temporary Road closure and change in direction? ( Donnington ,Telford, UK)

I have noticed that the temporary closure of Station Road, Donnington. Telford , UK is not displayed on Google Maps.

The closure is south bound leading to the Clocktower Roundabout . Visitors to the Wyevale Garden Centre can approach as normal but the return takes a trip of nearly 3 miles via The Humbers / Richards Road. The closure is not noted on Google Maps  but is identified on the local authority site - https://telford.roadworks.org

This is service is provided by Elgin which I believe many local authorities subscribe to to show local road works and closures.

1. What service does Google Maps use to update roadworks and closures in the UK ?

2. How can Local Guides inform Google Maps of additional road closures ?

Photos below illustrate Google Maps Image and https://telford.roadworks.org of the same area.

Re: How do I report a missing temporary Road closure and change in direction? ( Donnington ,Telford,

As a Local Guide there's no way to mark temporary, timed or seasonal road features in a single edit. Either the road is open or it's closed, so if you mark something closed you have to come back later and mark it open again. This might prove counter productive with short-term roadworks as it's unclear how long it would take for traffic directions to update. Google possibly has traffic data on feeds from sources we're not aware of - they will also crowd source GPS data from thousands of users on this road right now to give an indication of disruption.

You can notify Google of any issue directly from the map, though again whether this will really help directions within the time frame of the roadworks is debatable. One thing to bear in mind is not to reference a third party source. This may seem odd as the link you provided is 'evidence', but Google has rules about copyright, so linking to another provider is likely to lead to edits or reports being immediately discarded.

Click on the road in question, then click Report a data problem

Hello,

Google sometimes marks temporary road closures (one day and shorten) on GMaps, but... I have no idea how to report it.

Re: How do I report a missing temporary Road closure and change in direction? ( Donnington ,Telford,

I work with our Department of Transportation and would like to be able to share scheduled sidewalk closures ahead of time so people with disabilities, strollers, and other constraints can plan ahead to choose alternative routes before they find themselves stuck. Please help me find where I could contribute this valuable information. Thanks everyone!

Hi @timothyahoffman

  1. Check https://www.google.com/search?q=road+closures+map Note that no one page opens Google Maps, but rather an overlay (like Google Maps API or Google My Maps)
  2. You can report road closures by Waze (or their community – in Poland, the response time is about 1 hour). Sometimes road closures on main roads are imported from Waze to Google, but success is not sure.
  3. You can report road closures by using mobile app as I described (Polish) here https://photos.app.goo.gl/JqtxgNcO1MWXK7Tu2 but:
    • it doesn't available to all users (i don't know why, maybe Google tests it or only roll slow the feature to everyone?)
    • it is way to report temporary closures, but there is no warranty, that Google use your knowledge.
  4. You can "Send feedback" in Google Maps (the feature is available in menu of Google Maps, and in right lower corner of Google Maps)

Everytime if you report something, send information that will enable G. to verify your report (www, photos etc.)

In Waze there are no sidewalks (there are only car directions), so you can only "Send feedback" (no. 4) in Google Maps to correct foodpaths and bicycle ways.
