How can a business hi-jack others listing?

This company changed a shopping centre listing with 209 reviews with there own info email and phone number

 Can we ban the user that edited it?

How does Google Maps verify it if there not checking it?  

Surely there must be a why to check before major info gets altered like this?

This same user made a another fake listing for this centre a little way of aswell. Iam unable to remove it

Thankyou....but would only help if I was the owner of the business listing.

So anyone can go and alter a listing for kicks and google would approve? 

Kind of like all the centres being changed in Johannesburg to FNB ATM bank?  

This is a huge spamming problem.

Sofar Google Maps have only changed one centre name back after months.  Many many more to do.

Hi @NFN how did you know the same user made another highjacking? Anyway, the best thing to do if you find several things like that is to report in Mapping your world board (without mentioning any discovery regarding users) and ask for support from a Googler.

It's just missing of personal information from owner. 

I can see it's owned business and without the permission of that person who verify this POI nobody can change any information.

To fool the system.

By making a 2nd copy listing this then alows a person to edit the info (I assume)   if listing is not claimed by a business.  Its sad because listing has 209 reviews. 

Google excepts marking a listing as spam  them as does not exist.

They need to like ask special local guides to go and verify information rather then software selected.

Hey @NFN right now there are two way. 

1. Who owned the business can only edit it by logging through the desired account. 

2. Post your query under the link mention below

True then there's a bug.

Why would a shopping centre change all its details to one new shop?...... while there is a 2nd already listed place with same info? 

And how can multiple centres names be edited and type be changed?  Anyone can edit thats the problem. No one is checking info
