Mukteshwar, affluent in scenic splendour, commands a breathtaking vista of the Himalayas with magnificent views bearing the Nanda Devi, India's second-highest peak. A place defined by mountainous terrain snuggled with orchards and coniferous forests, Mukteshwar derives its name from Lord Shiva, the one who offers Moksha (Salvation). This tranquil and isolated hamlet is in the Nainital District of Uttarakhand. The famous Mukteshwar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is a major attraction. The enchanting town is situated at an altitude of 7500 feet. Apart from the temple, Chauli ki Jali is another celebrated charm.
Also known for the Indian Veterinary Research Institute campus that was established by the British in 1893. The houses of this beautiful town with their pitched red roofs and old- fashioned wooden window frames makes this place a different touch altogether.

Hi @RashmiM,
Thank you for sharing.
Your photos are amazing and the place looks so peaceful. Hiking on Himalaya is always a spiritual journey.
Have you seen the movie with Brad Pitt, the Seven Years in Tibet? I was impressed about the places.
