Fahmi Adimara Photo Tips #3 : Composition Techniques That Will Improve Your Photos Part 1

See and feel from your HeartSee and feel from your Heart

A photo can be made as a communication medium to convey messages to others. As a local guide primarily as the content creator, the important things that must be understood in addition to various basic photography techniques and various camera lenses are composition. The composition has the power to convey precisely the message we want to convey through the media a photo that we produce to the viewer.

The composition is a way to guide the viewer's eyes to see the very important elements of a photo. A good composition can help create an artwork from a photo. Conversely, a composition that is not good or bad can damage the meaning of a photograph as a whole. As a result, the message the photographer wants to convey through the photo is not conveyed to the viewer and effective communication will not occur.

We’ll start with probably the most well-known composition technique:

1. RULE OF THIRDS

The rule of thirds is very simple. You divide the frame into 9 equal rectangles, 3 across and 3 down as illustrated below. Many camera manufacturers have actually included the capability to display this grid in live view mode. Check your camera’s manual to see how to turn on this feature.

With the rule of thirds, the center of attention is placed at each intersection that divides images or photos from top to bottom and from left to right.

This technique is very useful for forming the composition structure of an image. You will see my friend use the Yellow Jacket here :

 2. CENTERED COMPOSITION

Centered Composition or often known as Balance is specifically used when using the composition technique of the Rule of Thirds with the aim that the image has a balance. A photo that has wide subjects and is in the front position of another subject can create an image that looks too biased.

We can create some balance by arranging the elements and scales you want to show. You will see my friend use the Red Ethnic here :

The 2 compositions above are compulsory and easiest for us to apply when we make photo and video content.

For the next composition points, I will share them next week 🙂
