Errore nomi fiumi e luoghi in Italia

Ti scrivo perche' ho provato in passato (da 3 anni a questa parte) a segnalare i seguenti errori qui nel Forum ed anche attraverso l'opzione ''Send feedback'' di Maps, ma non sono stati mai corretti. 

Si tratta di tre errori nella toponomastica di Maps in Italia, di preciso in Molise e Puglia e Campania.

Il primo errore e' questo fiume che ha un nome sbagliato. Non si tratta del ''Trigno'' bensi'  del ''Sente'', un fiume tributario del Trigno. Il suo nome lo si puo' desumere dal nome del ponte che ci passa sopra e che, tra l'atro, verra chiuso al traffico domani per mancanza di soldi per la manutenzione. Spero che tu possa far corregere questo piccolo errore al team di Maps.

Il secondo errore, che ho gia' menzionato in un post in passato sul Forum di Connect riguarda il nome di una citta' in Campania ( Sant Mary, il cui nome corretto e' Santa Maria di Castellabate) e di una localita' in Puglia ( Caseria Forquet ) - entrambi errati.

Excuse me for replying in English, but as you probably know you can always use the Google Translate tool to translate my post.

Google Maps don't propose the option to edit river or city names, but what you can do instead is to Send a feedback. Another great option is to post these type of questions and issues in the Google Maps Help Forum, where your issue is going to be reviewed by a team of experts.

Puoi darmi per favore, per ognuna delle località di cui hai chiesto l'edit, la data dell'ultima segnalazione il link esatto del posto e la tipologia di modifica richiesta (aggiunta, edit, spostamento, etc.).

Provvederò ad aprire una richiesta per ogni posizione.

Purtroppo non posso darti le date di segnalazione poiche' sono state fatte ben 3 o 4 anni fa tramite il forum di MapMaker (chiuso) e il tool di ''Send Feedback'' di Maps. L'ultima segnalazione recente e' quella tramite questo post qui su Connect.

Comunque eccoti le info:

- Modifica di nome di nome di fiume errato: ''Trigno'', modifica in ''Sente'', solo la parte al confine tra Abruzzo e Molise. Varie etichette con nome errato alle coordinate 41.774373, 14.472630 ; 41.814684, 14.451251 ; 41.826598, 14.447293 ; 41.841393, 14.439687 ; 41.844393, 14.428382 ; 41.857335, 14.416884 ; 41.861024, 14.411570. Il Sente e' tributario del Trigno fino alle coordinate 41.768620, 14.494837. Il nome lo si puo' desumere da quello del ponte che ci passa su.

- Eliminazione di toponimo errato: ''Caseria Fourquet'', alle coordinate 41.878470, 15.655598, e' inesistente sia sulla mappa IGM 1:25000 che sulla toponomastica stradale e del Comune di San Nicandro Garganico. Nella zona c'e' un ''Casale Forchetta'', una masseria abbandonata, come da mappa IGM, ma non un ''Caseria Fourquet'' che e' un francesismo maccheronico.

- Modifica di toponimo errato: ''Sant Mary'', alle coordinate 40.295967, 14.951749, e' inestitente (nella versione di Maps in inglese essendo un inglesismo maccheronico). Il suo nome corretto e' ''Santa Maria di Castellabate'', come da sito web del comune di Castellabate di cui e' frazione.

Inoltre, se potessi aprire una richiesta anche per l'aggiunta di questi due fiumi che scorrono in provincia di Pescara, Abruzzo famosi per le loro bellezze naturali: l'Orta (per i canyon) e l'Alento (per le tombe e la basilica di San Liberatore a Majella):

- Aggiunta di fiume e relativo nome: ''Alento'', come da mappa IGM, nasce dalla Majella per sfociare nel fiume Pescara, scorre vicino all'Abbazia di San Liberatore (coordinate 42.235202, 14.101134) come da foto 360 .

- Aggiunta di fiume e relativo nome: ''Orta'', come da mappa IGM, visibile sulla mappa satellitare su Maps alle coordinate 42.182873, 13.962123 e dalle foto su Maps come per es. questa a 360 gradi

@KlaudiyaG many thanks for your reply. I did indeed use the Send Feedback on Maps (then clicking on ''Your opinions on Maps'' as there is no option to report a wrong toponym or a missing one) I think half a dozen times in the past 3-4 years, and used the Map Maker forum, as well as here on Connect, to flag up the issues above but they are still there.

It'd be useful that the tool to suggest a wrong or missing road could be extended to toponyms - there are quite a few in Maps that need correction!

Water edits have been locked down for numerous years, any reports you would have attempted in Map Maker would have been against process and thus would not go through.  The same applies to using Send Feedback, there is no option there to report water feature issues and thus using other fields is against process and will not go through.

I'm afraid there is no option available, Google is not accepting such edits at this time.

Hi @Flash thanks. I'm a bit perplexed as to why you say there is ''no option available at this time as Google is not accepting such edits'' whereas @KlaudiyaG suggested above that either the Send Feedback option or a post on Maps Help Forum are options to report such issues as also @LucioV suggested and did (incidentally, the new topic option says ''My Topic is: Map Information (roads, oceans...) when chosen - which includes a ''water body''). Accordingly I reported the issues in the Maps Help Forum.

Also, in a previous post on Connect (December 2017) you mentioned that Google has created a team dealing with water bodies edits and you suggested to use the Send Feedback option just like I did above. And in another post on Connect (March 2017) it came to my mind that one fellow Local Guide reported on a wrong river name and a Google Moderator took the issue into his hands to escalate it to Google - and the river name was very quickly corrected and the Local Guide was really happy for it (and praised by other Connect Moderators for her effort in reporting the issue).

I believe toponyms - of towns and rivers like those above - are quite important edits to take into account to make a quality map like many cartography and mapping books suggest (Kraak and Ormeling, 2010, 3rd edition, Guildford Press amongst others) as well as the INSPIRE European Union Directive.

It'd be really extraordinary to see Google would no longer accept suggestions of editing wrong water and place names from Maps users, wouldn't it?

This reporting feature Lucio discussed is something that is under NDA and specifically meant for the Maps Forums. We aim to keep escalations from different teams within their distinctive forums so as to not overload any one groups processes. Just a heads up here that this process isn't something that should necessarily be shared as a workable solution to every individual mapping issue that comes into a Local Guides purview.

@LucioV - I think these requests definitely could go through the Google Maps forum but as this method of reporting is still in its infancy on that end, inundating it with requests from the Local Guides forums is not suggested for the health of this reporting method 🙂
