Eid Ul Fitr which literally means “the feast of breaking the fast”. Friday, 15 Jun 2018 is the first day of Eid Ul Fitr as the crescent of Shawwal has been sighted in Saudi Arabia and many other countries around the world. Eid Ul Fitr is an important religious festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide that’s marks the end of Holy Ramadan Month.
Couple of days before we purchase new cloths for the occasion and take part in festival and celebrations. We wake up early to pray at a mosque or outdoor prayer venue (it’s called Eidgah). After the prayers is completed, worshipers embrace each other and say “Eid Mubarak” or “Blessed Eid” to wish each other good will.
Adults usually give children and young people money or gifts on Eid. Families will often visit their neighbors and extended relatives after the morning celebration to wish them a Happy Eid. Zakat Ul Fitr will be given to poor and needy people.
In Saudi Arabia, the roads and streets are decorated with colorful lights and banners. Colorful and dazzling fireworks display lit up the pitch black skies in Saudi Arabia. During those moments lasting for ten minutes time seemed to stand still not a whisper could be heard. All eyes were trained on the dazzling spectacle and all those present were held spellbound. Shopping Malls are decorated with Colorful Eid Greeting and offer special Eid Shopping.
I wish May the auspicious occasion of Eid bless you and your family with peace and bring joy to your heart and home, Eid Mubarak!
Please share your happiness and let us know how you celebrate Eid in your place.
