Does anyone get weird looks when you are taking pictures and uploading them?
I do sometimes. I've even been confronted by people.
Owners tend to like when I tell them I'm a local guide.

Usually i try to tell them i'm a local guide before i take the picture. Here in Brazil almost everyone doesn't know about local guides, but people tend to be positive about it too. I try to take a picture when i visit the place for some reason, this helps too.

I'm pretty sure I do, but I've never been confronted by anyone about it. I'm mindful of trying to avoid people in my shots. I also use the, "I'm taking a pic of the menu for my friend who I'm ordering for" technique for indoor photos lol

I find people don't usually mind, unless using flash, which I hardly ever use

Here in Sweden everyone walks around with a smartphone in their hands. Even on the pedestrian crossings. They do not look up from their screens. And everyone is shooting selfies everywhere. In gym, on the street, on the beach and so on. No one looks at you if you shoot buildings, entrances or other interesting places. Some shop owners have looked a bit suspicious, but after telling them what I was doing in the mall they asked if I needed some help. 😃
