Belanglo State Forest is unfortunately know to many in Australia and associated with the serial murderer Ivan Milat( Backpacker Murderer) who is currently serving a life sentence. The forest is total area is about 3,800 hectares
It is a great forest with pine trees, nest of ants, burrows of animals, birds, kangaroos and on my last visit even saw deers. The public has free access to the forest; it is also popular with campers it features two to four wheel drive tracks and creek crossings. It is popular among recreational trail bike riders.
We go there for finding and picking Pine Mushrooms. This mushroom species, which occurs spontaneously in rainy areas of the forest there is no need for planting.
It is rich in iron, contains plenty of folic acid, helps strengthen the immune system. It is one of the rare nutrients in the treatment of vascular diseases.
Worth going to the trouble of searching & picking the mushrooms.
I have put a photo of the mushrooms. Also put one of the different way you can cook it. These a just a few ways there are many more. Fried, sauteed with onion and capsicum and with Bulgur.
