As a local guide, we have an important job.

We are not just as normal newspaper critics. We get to take our own photos, try out the food, and of course remain anonymous. I've found the anonymity is great because I can go into a restaurant and be treated like a normal visitor, not treated extra special to be buttered up for a good review. Another thing is people really rely on our opinions to decide what they want to do for a family night, date night, guys/girls night out. When reviewing a person doesn't have to use big words to show their education because that doesn't matter. What matters is the service and satisfaction. You don't need to be a professional photographer. I'm glad that I've decided to do this and outside of google I've recommended many places for people to try. I try to stick to the small businesses in small towns because in my life I've found it to be where you get the best service and usually great food. Anyway this has been my input, I hope it helps other local guides no matter where your local is.
