Adding photos to an unmarked location

Hi

I want to add some photos of a small region, namely The New Forest in England and also The Dales.

this is a large area of countryside and although there are one or two places, most of the scenic locations are unmarked, so reviews and photos cannot be added.

How do I create a landmark, eg a waterfall or add photos to a lake in order to add photos?

so far I can only add or review already tagged commercial places.

I do however find Map maker to be a pain in the glutinous maximus; for instance, I opened it and it insisted I edit Vietnam.

Never been there, never will and changing to old Blighty was a slow and painful process, the search box did not appear until I was focused onto England, so of no help.

The problem is, there is a lot of territory and the locations are rather vague, there is only so many times I can add National Forest to a rather big area, the same applies to the Peak District.

However it is a doddle to add photos to a farm, park etc and I have 450,000 views of those now.

Scenic  is definitely a better suggestion, especially as I wanted to add a plain next to the forest, where the wild ponies roam free.

mine are mostly businesses. Surprising sometimes what gets lots of views. #whodathunkit.
