Its confusing to get navigation guidance similar to "Head West" from a point where we had already traveled and roads / directions are not familiar...At that point, direction may be very difficult to find out, especially in Asian scenarios and there may be mobile phones without the magnetic compass too... So Instead it will be good if google map checks the last movement of the vehicle when the navigation starts and suggests...
1. Head in the same direction
2. Take an immediate possible U turn
3. Take Immediate Right or Left

Why is it more difficult to find the direction that west is in an Asian country? Can't people look at the sun? This only seems to be a problem when people are unfamiliar with their surroundings.

It depends on timing too and lots of other parameters like cloudy environment etc..When u r starting to drive at 9PM how do u know which is west?? So GMap should make the life easy, and provide guidance for anybody to understand and drive!! Also depends on how u used to it when getting guidance of a travel, we normally used to get directions of straight, left, right rather than scenarios of west / east...
