Spoke too soon. It seems to be related to a Google app, that due to confidentiality, I am unable to mention. However, as soon as I reinstalled it the fix was again broken.

I'm having this problem and changing the permissions didn't help. I installed an app that appears to just be a shortcut today so I don't know if that's it. 

 

Someone please help it's driving me nuts!

I've just spent another hour trying to resolve this problem. All I can find is a jingly with another half-baked solution. Don't Google have any real employees to answer this problem?

Hi LGs,

 

I can see for this issue, once got hit, will just follow us for a while.  Not easy to drive them away.

 

Will you try a work around?

 

1.  We use Google Search from our Android

2.  From the Search Result, click on the Place, then Review, then directly give a rating and write a review here.

 

I want you to try this out and tell us if it works.  As I, touch wood, am clear of issue at the moment, I need your help to give me feedback about this work around.

That worked for me. It renders the contribute app meaningless though.

I am glad to hear that that worked, @Andy406!

 

Let's look at it at another angle.

 

Google is rolling out functions that we find critical in Maps to more platform.  Thus we have more choice.

 

There is no single tools that fits everyone.

A " WORK AROUND FIX " is not solving the problem . It just adds another equation to the problem and does not solve the problem .  

 

The WORK AROUND is a poor way to this issue !

Hi @MrMalo,

 

A work around, I will not say it is a fix.

 

It is another method to get things done - allow those of us hit by this problem to write review.

 

Using Desktop Maps is obviously another work around.

 

I will say a working work around is better than no way.
