Update Request: Points are multiplied in desktop but not in the app

As per our new points system, the following are the points awarded for the Maps Contribution

New Points systemNew Points system

The desktop version is showing the correct points,

5,166+53+29,320+6,620+1,245+2,820+452 = 45,676

My contributions (Desktop Version)My contributions (Desktop Version)

But in the app, it is showing the number of contributions not the points. In app it's showing the results according to our old points system.

863+53+5839+6,623+265+190+452 = 14,285

My Contributions (Android App Version)My Contributions (Android App Version)

Actual points calculations:-

Reviews            863 * 5  =  5,178

Ratings               53 * 1   =        53

Photos           5,839 * 5   = 29,195

Answers         6,623 * 1  =    6,623

Edits                 265  * 5  =    1,325

Places added    190 * 5  =    2,850

Facts Checked  452 * 1  =       452

-----------------------------------------------

Total Points                     =  45,676

-----------------------------------------------

Using the updated version of Google Maps as on 18 August, 2017Using the updated version of Google Maps as on 18 August, 2017

So, I request the concerned app officials to update the points.

Re: Update Request: Points are multiplied in desktop but not in the app

Hi @FazeelUsmani,

By design, the LG Homepage and the Contribution Details page in Mobile Maps are showing the number of Contributions in each category.  While in Desktop Maps, our Contribution Details page are showing POINTS we earned in each category.

That's why you are seeing two sets of number among LG HomePage/Mobile Maps vs Desktop Maps.

As long as the total points are in sync, then there is nothing to worry about.

No, in my case both on App and Desktop are now showing same and correct points. Earlier both were different.

I have a same problem.

The number of contributions on the LG and GMM accounts are not synchronized.

Hi @nvthanh,

Can you be more specific?  The best way to tell is to post three different screen captures:

1.  Desktop Maps Contributions Details page

2.  Mobile Maps Contributions Details page

3.  LocalGuides Homepage Contributions Details page

@nvthanh

it looks like your screenshot is from a laptop. If i understand it right, laptop/desktop shows who many points you have in total each catagori and in the app it shows number of edits. I guess if you take that number from the app and x5. You will get the number you see on your laptop 🙂

Hi @nvthanh,

@DanT-DK is correct.  In Desktop Maps, it is showing Points earn under each category.

It is not the same as find in Mobile Maps, which number of contributions are shown.

@DanT-DK, you're right!!!

The snapshot is of Desktop version, so it displays the points instead the total numbers of each.

In fact, the LG points does not take in to account the previous edits of google mapmaker when I contributed as a Regional Lead with large amount of edits.

Re: Update Request: Points are multiplied in desktop but not in the app

There used to be some synchronisation issues recently and I'm not sure whether they are completely solved or not. So far, they all got solved by patiance 😉 Just few days and it should be ok. If you are very eager to see the points, you may try to restart the phone and clear the caches or reinstall the app. Theoreticly it could help, however for most of the guys that reported the issue previously, it was fine within 48 hours...
