Someone already mentioned that Local Guides (level 5 or above) should have their reviews prioritized.
while this hasn’t been implemented and of course may take time to make changes in the backend, I have some suggestions.
Currently, the reviews are shown in reverse chronological order. If they are sorted by this order:
1)whether reviewer is a local guide 2)level of local guide
3) number of likes on a review/length of review (word length and number of photos)
it would perhaps make reviews more reliable.
However, a level 10 local guide with 5 likes may have written the review 10 months ago, whereas a non-local guide would have written the review. Recent reviews are more likely to reflect the current state of the place.
Suggestion: Add a small status bar which says: ‘last reviewed on dd/mm/yy’ . This would be better than when many local guides have to come back to their review and add an ‘UPDATE: ...’ below their existing review, if their opinion of the place changes.
