Re: Places one may not visit

Hi @GaryFunk,

First of all, SABs are not expecting people to visit them.  But what happends when one tries to visit them is not in the scope of this discussion.  You can write a review at that POI based on your actual first hand experience.

What you reported so far, still matches a SAB in Maps to me.

So moving forward, please find out if those POIs are SAB or not.

Re: Places one may not visit

This isn't getting anywhere.

These listings not belong as XYX on maps.

It's that simple.

As for the other letters you keep throwing out, I don't have a clue and I can't AND won't write a review on a fake listing.

Hi @GaryFunk,

I wish you can agree the core issue here is:  What is a Fake listing.

You give your reasoning on why you think some listings are Fake.

And I stated that SABs are valid listings in Maps that matches what you described.

I hope you can review those POIs again, just to make sure they are actually Fake or just a SAB.

I'm reporting an issue. If Google isn't interested then so be it.

Re: Places one may not visit

@GaryFunk The listing you show for "Mountain Man..." is not claimed under Google My Business, and thus is in clear violation of all Terms of Service, and should be removed with the reason "Private". The other listing is Claimed (you'll notice the lack of a "claim this business" link in the detail), and falls into a grey area - it is in violation of the Terms of Service, but getting them into compliance is a cat and mouse game. For that reason, you might want to read/follow the thread "How to identify and report spam on Google Maps" where this has been discussed.

Hi @MWJones,

What is the best way to distinguish a POI is a SAB or not?

@Rodrigo_P

I've been trying to flag this for a long time.

How about common sense and knowledge of the area?

Re: Places one may not visit

@YK1001 Here's the way to tell if they are an SAB, and all have to apply to be correct:

  1. Business is claimed ("Claim this business" is not visible in the detail view).
  2. Address is hidden (in the US, you will only see City and State).
  3. Instead of a point, when the business is searched it will show the area they service, some online-only businesses for example may not show the area, but will still show a point - but, that point is not visible in Google Maps when browsing, only when it is searched (either by category or by name)
  4. Street View image is not in the businesses photos.

Here's a good example of a proper SAB listing (click to enlarge, some information blurred since this business is not the point of the discussion):

Re: Places one may not visit

@MWJones, thank you for explaining this to @YK1001

I don't know why he can't understand the issue. These two items clearly DO NOT belong as points on Maps.

So how do I get the attention of Google to get this one entry removed?
