Help People find poling stations

There will be a general election in Kenya in a few months, is there a way we can help map out the main poling stations to help people identify them?

Re: Help People find poling stations

Hi @WaweruM,

Not sure if it can be used, but there is a category called "Voting Facility" in Desktop Maps.

I would say you can do two things in parallel:

1.  If you know the Voting Facility details now, make sure their Address is correct (Place Marker is correct, route is correct, etc)

2.  Post your question to Mapmark Help forum, as them if the use of "Voting Facility" is OK or not.

The even beter, is ask your Government, to discuss with Google on how to do a event based mapping.

Like the Taipei Marathon, there are road closure special display in the Taipei Map for that day.

Yes, but not on the base map. You can create a custom map with https://www.google.co.uk/maps/about/mymaps/ "Allow friends to see and edit your maps, or publish them to the whole world."

HI @WaweruM, please be aware you can only map places you are familiar with, you cannot cite or copy third party sources such as a Government map of polling stations.

As such, even if Polling Stations were considered mappable, you are likely to inadvertently create an overall picture which could be misleading by only being able to add a few locations. Since Polling stations are only open for the day of the election, you could not add any to the map more than two weeks before polling day and you would need to mark them all closed the next day.

By comparison on a custom map you can do whatever you like, copy locations from the government, add station locations when you want and leave them on your map forever so they are in place for the next election.

That's a small typo, Sampson means ask in the Map Maker forum https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/map-maker
