Re: VISITING OR BUSINESS CARDS FOR LOCAL GUIDES

I will be getting google local guide business cards.

White background with the google word across the front in large coloured letters.  Then in the bottom left corner add 3 small lines one above the other, your name, your level and your title Google Local Guide and even a 4th line, a web address to your google guide account.

Yes you can direct people to your app on your phone but its safer to give the business card.

No i am not a google paid employee but all google local guides are unpaid volunteers for google.

I take my google guiding seriously and a business card is the way forward.  I specialise in aviation reviews so a business card validates me for those purposes.

Re: VISITING OR BUSINESS CARDS FOR LOCAL GUIDES

Hi @MallCop1,

here is an excerpt of the official reply, in which I am merging this thread.

"We do not provide Local Guides with ID cards. If asked for identification, we encourage you to share that you are an individual member of the local community (and not an employee of Google) sharing your experiences and local community on Google Maps for others to discover. You are welcome to show them your profile in "Your contributions" in the Google Maps app if they wish to learn more or share the website, g.co/localguides, with those asking questions"

¡Espero puedas lograr algo!

¡Déjanos saber qué tal!

Hola @Anonymous, @hectorsantillan04.

The question has been asked a lot of time, and there is a thread with an official reply (here an excerpt):

"We do not provide Local Guides with ID cards. If asked for identification, we encourage you to share that you are an individual member of the local community (and not an employee of Google) sharing your experiences and local community on Google Maps for others to discover. You are welcome to show them your profile in "Your contributions" in the Google Maps app if they wish to learn more or share the website, g.co/localguides, with those asking questions."

I am merging your post in thae A. M. Thread

Souvenirs for higher level local guides

I feel, everyone above Level 6 and above should get some T-shirt or badges, as till level 6, everyone must have had at least one experience where they have been questioned about taking photographs .

So, this will also eradicate this problem and motivate new guides to reach level 6 and above.

Re: Souvenirs for higher level local guides

Hello @piyushchib, I am quite sure a lot of Level 6 or higher LGs will like your idea, but I'm also quite sure it will not get implemented. The reason: suppose Google starts providing some official token to indicate someone is a high level LG, how will you prevent others from making fake ones? Or in case a real LG gets blocked by Google due to abuse: how can they ever prevent him/her from continuing to use it?

Re: Souvenirs for higher level local guides

Hi @piyushchib

@JanVanHaver is right. Badges or ID showing the Local Guide status is a request that the community have raised several times, and yes, there is an "official answer", in which I am merging your post

"We do not provide Local Guides with ID cards. If asked for identification, we encourage you to share that you are an individual member of the local community (and not an employee of Google) sharing your experiences and local community on Google Maps for others to discover. You are welcome to show them your profile in "Your contributions" in the Google Maps app if they wish to learn more or share the website, g.co/localguides, with those asking questions. I'm sure you are obeying all local laws but if someone does not wish to have their place photographed, it's OK to not photograph it. We encourage Local Guides to follow all local laws and respect privacy when it is asked, of course."

About T-shirt, you can find a reply in here

"Local Guides t-shirts were given to Level 4+ Local Guides who reached Level 4+ by a certain date in 2015 and they lived in markets where it was possible to ship. That was a one time thank you gift."

Hope this can help you
