Although the advice by @JeslynL is commonly given in that manner, please be aware that you should NOT simply choose the closestcategory you can find to something if you cannot find a category you are looking for.
For example Railway Company (although related) is not a close alternative for Railway Station.
You should look at categories as keys. If you cannot find a category (the key), it might mean that that "door" (place) is locked for Local Guides but can be added by Google or authorized partners (like the transit partners that are able to add railway stations). It could also mean that the place you are trying to add is not mappable. For example, I see lots of mailboxes on maps where people use the closest category Post Office, but this is wrong and will hurt your trust-score in the end. After all, a mailbox where you post your letters is NOT the same as an actual post office. So the fact that there is no category for a mailbox, gives us a clue that it might not be mappable.
Rather than posting all the categories, you cannot find, here, on the Feature Request and Feedback forum, please check first with fellow Local Guides on the Mapping Your World forum. If we come to the conclusion that a category is really missing, without an acceptable alternative, then the next step would be to post it here and report it as feedback in the Maps app.
