Update, 6/13/18: All 151 selected applicants have been notified about their status and all remaining Local Guides will hear about their status by June 20th.

Over the coming days everyone who applied for this year’s Local Guides event, Connect Live 2018, will receive an email about whether or not they have been selected to attend. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for submitting their applications and let you know how much fun the team had in reviewing the thousands (yes, THOUSANDS) of applications.

We have selected 151 Local Guides to represent the global community at Connect Live 2018. That’s right: you heard it here first that we selected an extra Local Guide to share information back with the community!

Every person selected was carefully reviewed by the team and chosen for a very special reason. While some may not share their status just yet, we ask you to be patient as they work through their excitement — and the details.

Overall, it was inspiring to see how committed many of you are to the Local Guides community on top of making fantastic contributions to Google Maps: helping your local community by adding new places, creating lists to help others exploring your area, and hosting meet-ups to connect locally, just to name a few. It was fun learning about your specific passions, too. Whether you were one of the vegan foodies, accessibility champions, or rappers (yes, there were rappers!), you help to keep Connect a warm and welcoming place for Local Guides no matter where in the world you may call home.

I’m proud to be a Local Guide and I look forward to seeing our global community grow over the coming weeks, months, and years, especially here on Connect.

I request you Sir please find out the status of my application which I submitted as per invition email Google  link successfully till date I didn't receive reply email as per privacy policy. 

I respect your privacy policy and hope that as per privacy policy reply email should be sent those who submitted the application. It is really surprising to keep in dark with out declaring list of selected 150 local guides and List of submitted applications at Connect Live 2018 how far it is justifiable regarding transparency in selecting attendees which is still kept top confidential with out providing any link whether they are selected or not selected by the Board which is appointed by Google. There must be an order of selection duely signed by Google Authority that must have some link so that all local guides can follow instructions. 

Please do the needful to send reply email those who submitted the applications as per Google Privacy policy. 

Sir I am Local Guide Level 7 and I worked as Principal so let me know about the Status of my application which I submitted as per invitation email. Hope transparency in selecting local Guides must be kept in selecting attendees.

It is the question of how far it is justified in case of local Guides with out declaration of list of names of 150 Local Guides on 20th June 2018.

I don't agree with your point of view regarding selection  of Local Guides till date list names  of selected  local guides are not published in any link and list of submitted applications are not made than how far is it justifiable with out providing links so that local guides can find their status of applications in selection. I worked as Principal any selection list of applications and list of results are displayed keeping in view of any results or selection. When local guides are not provided with basic rights as human being to know about selection in connect live 2018. Local Guides render selfless services till date Google did not send reply email whether applicants are  selected or not selected as per Privacy policy .Local Guides who submitted the application are supposed to get reply email or authentic link of Google. Where is the question of transparency here regarding selection everything is top confidential after selection. Local Guides are kept in dark regarding the list of selected local guides. How far is it justifiable in case of Local Guides .

This matter will be brought to the notice of CEO GOOGLE to maintain transparency of selection to join in Connect Live 2018. 

I strongly support the suggestion of @THOKCHOM in favour of Local guides. This matter first will be brought to the notice of CEO GOOGLE to do justice to local guides .

Everything should be announced as per privacy policy of Google.

Thanks for your support. Hope I have to bring to the notice of CEO Google regarding privacy policy adopted in selecting attendees till date reply email I didn't receive from Google . Just to find out my statues of application till date no link is provided to applicants which is authentic regarding list of submitted applications and list of 150 selected attendees how for it is justifiable when the list of selected attendees names are not declared or announced by country wise when all applicants submitted their application .Now I lost confidence in this regard. Whether is it a transparent selection of local guides. There are various methods are adopted to select the attendees to prepare the final list with link. Till date who are Board members in selection committee not known.Best method can be adopted by draw at each level by total number of applications received. Every thing is top confidential is not justified in case of local guides selection .

Hope for a reply email from Google . I worked as Principal and we adopted certain method regarding selection of Students and results are displayed on notice board. 

Here results are confidential regarding selection. 

Let me hope that Google should do justice at least regarding selection of Local guides country wise with transparency in announcing the names of selected local guides.

I am very sad to see such disgruntled people of an event that does not even have to happen. Perhaps it is best to start with the fact that Google is a private company, not a state-sponsored business. For it to be inferred that somehow the human rights commission should be involved in this matter surely demeans the work that the HRC does. Clearly, there are true humans rights violations done every day by governments that involve personal safety, security, and access to basic needs such as food clothing and shelter that they should give their attention to. 

What I am seeing here is plain and simple childish behavior. It's is time for people to pull their panties up and be grateful for those who do have access to such an opportunity and plan how you will make your video better for next year's contest. 

Perhaps the people in this group need to evaluate why you do what you do here in local guides connect - is it for fame and glory or truly to help improve lives with your contribution. Going to a "google event" is yes often a dream for people but this is not the part of what we do that improves access to your community nor improves the lives of others.  Reconsider your goals and modify as needed.

I know that nothing can be changed by local guides when as per announcment of Connect live 2018. . One may get selected or not a reply email should be sent after verification of list. as per privacy policy to the applicants .There is no point in discussion when  they announced 150 selected Local Guides. 

Only Google authority can provide a solution regarding the status of submitted applications in a link which will be very helpful to Local Guides . Congratulations to all selected local  guides.

Hi my dear fellow and friend @Jayalakshmi_Rao_S, what I know all of us got feedback from Google that we are not in, only because our applications we accepted. When we submit our applications same time it showed us that application was submitted successfully. Even after one week we got feedback back from the Google. Question is that you didn't get feedback from Google at all and answer is simple that you it means to me that application submitted by you weren't submitted successfully at all. Other than you should got also get feedback of your application. We should accept their decision with heart and wisely my dear. We should salute them for their great work they have done for us. Decision makers are great people we shouldn't raise even one finger one them, truly it was a big and tough work. We should move on positively with our work, we have to make this world more easy for coming next generations. I respect your thoughts.

A big thumbs up for you my friend @Jayalakshmi_Rao_S. I agreed with your post of view. Transparency can bring justice. But where is justice and transparency ? This question may be asked time and again by every local guide leaders and individual of this globe.

Why are we investing so much time, energy, money and labor because to bring a welfare society for the entire mankind of this globe.

We can't sacrifice out precious time, energy, money and labor to achieve something for  the Global community but not for Ithe Injustice doings. If they are transparent in their works they must courageously show and disclise the list of the selected 151 guide leaders who are attending the Connect Live 2018 at San Francisco, California.

As the selected list is still not disclosed to the Global Cummunity clearly proofs the possibility of anything behind the scenes. Google authority must pay attention to this chaotic situation.

Go ahead my friend. Let's find out the truth and prevent this type of things to happen again.

@Jayalakshmi_Rao_S For those that successfully submitted their Connect Live application should have heard whether they got accepted or not. Did you ever receive confirmation that you have successfully submitted your application? The subject of the email should be 'Thanks for Applying to Join Us in October !'

If you've never received the email with the subject line above, that means your application wasn't submitted successfully and you won't receive any acceptance/rejection email. Look under your trash or spam folder.

You answer is not convincing for the selection of attendees for an international meet.

Based on those outline criteria, the following clarification have to be clarity to the Global community.

01. What are the grading  or marking criteria ?

02. Who are the selection committee members ?

03. Who are the best selected guide leaders  country  they belong to ?

In every competive selection, the above factory and criteria are clearly maintain for transparency and justification. We do not find these transparency in the selection process of Connect live 2018 even.

We seek clarification of these doubts and vagueness from the Google authority.

As a moderator @iyudhi you need to clarify my doubts and question.

In my life I have participated and organized more than 40 + International Conference and events so far. But I have never come across  suchan organization  managed an event like this which lacks transparency and justification. 

My friend @iyudhi, I have already attended 3 International Conference in USA.as a representative of my country. But all the events managed so well and transparent and justifiable but not like this one.

Let's make this event transparent and justifiable to compensate our loss Time, energy and money for the welfare of the Global Cummunity.

@THOKCHOM I'm a bit curious, for any of the 40+ conferences you attended, have any of them actually released the name of the attendees for public? I've attended many conferences/summits in the past, but not a single one of them ever released the name of the attendees to public.

I'm sorry, but I'm a bit lost. Can you elaborate more on how your statement relates to Local Guides? The biggest compensation or benefit of contributing to Maps and participating in the Local Guides program is to improve the quality of information on Maps. Many people rely on Maps for day to day navigation, so having accurate information will be a great benefit for them. The invitation of Connect Live shouldn't be the main compensation for participating in the Local Guides program.

For me as a volunteer keep on contribution to Maps I didn't think that is cost or any statement that Google will pay back in return, most of the local guides who contribute to the Maps because they want to help and sharing their experience to the places that they've been through...

@THOKCHOM I'm sure that many of local guides who disappointed because of they're not been selected the connect live and I've faced it last year I've submitted application to join the summit but I'm not selected first day after got the notification on not been selected to the summit yes I'm a bit sad and felt down when look back to what I've done many thing contributed to the Maps in the past... few days on after that I've notification feedback from a place that I've reviewed with just a word "Thank you" from stranger but it's inspire me to keep on contributing to the Maps and I realize that this is what I can help people around the world on the places in one platform.

Local Guides Connect Live or Summit that organize by Google is not an award for me, it's just an option to the contributor to joining hands and have a chance to meet googler in person in the US, event I'm not select to the event, but I also still can have every updating from the Maps and follow the articles from local guides connect platform for my knowledge.

It is not the matter of my selection or his or their selection for the Connect live 2018 summer.  I am talking about the ways of selection. You should have raised this question lat yeah itself. You have remained silent last year. That is why they started practicing the same method of vague and improper ways of selection putting things in darkness.

We are not seeking anything in return for our secrifices mage by sparing our valuable time, money and energy. But the only issue is it should be done in a transparent and justifiable way. Because whatever we are considering to the Google maps and connect live community is voluntary and is for the welfare and development of the Global community.

The Moderators and Google need to show the list of the selection persons who are selected for the Connect live 2018 to make the connect global community transparent and justifiable.

We all are contributing to the Google for the development and betterment of the Google maps which in turn gets the benefits by the Global Cummunity. To achieve that benefits we all voluntarily contributing it sparing our valuable time money and energy. Google didn't give anything for this. However, we hope at least to thing's in a transparent and proper way. Any selection should be transparent and must show the final standing in public.

Whatever the selection so which I have experienced so far is made public. Whatever seminar and conference which I I have attended is always notified in public not like the Connect Summit.

@THOKCHOM Do you think you can give a few examples of the conferences you attended that releases their attendees information in public? I'm very curious right now. If it's public, then it should be available for everyone to see right? Can you point me to any source where I can see that?

First of all, Google has already made it clear that they're not going to release the attendees list due to privacy concern. Let's say that Google releases the info for all the selected attendees. How does that actually prove anything? What are you planning to do with the information? Again, I'm genuinely curious because I've never seen someone that was so strongly passionate about this like you are.

I want to share my experience from the past few years (this is the 3rd year Google is doing the event). Some people from the past events have shared the news publicly when they got selected for the event, mostly through social media. I actually know a few people that got harassed because of that. Random people started commenting on the post sharing the news with hateful comments questioning why the person got selected instead of them. Another one even got an anonymous WhatsApp message from an unknown number, again, questioning why he got selected instead of the person. This is not okay. This is one of the many reasons Google not releasing any list regarding personal info of the selected attendees, but I think it's probably the most important one.

But what is my mind if they didn't bring out the name of of those and print out the selected attendees we can't force them at all we can't ask from them we are not playing soccer here that name of the players must be out written on Board. for what good reason. but  what you need for we do this volunteerily yo just help others to make this world more better not to ask the things. Where some of our LGs have violated the atmosphere of good discussion due to their nonsense thoughts, immaturity and egoistic nature.

Even Local guides don't not have the right to see the List of selected 150 local guides so where is the question of discussion when local guides those who submitted application . Where is the question of transparency in selection or Declaration of results. I know exactly what you are talking about, @Hitesh_68. I am avoiding to take part of the conversation, because my feeling is that this will not apport any benefit.

Last year, when I have received my email, declaring that I wasn't invited, I have shared my happiness for the people that was invited to attend. I do not contribute in here because I want to receive some perk, my main reason for being in the community is to find a way to make this planet a better place, as you can see in my signature here below.

Other members have different opinions and, even if I disagree with them, they are free to express it. I would prefer more content and less rumours, but this is the life
