Join us in celebrating two years of Connect

On July 15, 2016, we launched Connect to give Local Guides like you a single, official place to communicate with each other. We hoped that Connect would be a place where you could literally connect with others just like you and those not-so-much like you to make new friendships that would help you in your Local Guides experience.

As we shared earlier this week, new and exciting features are coming to Connect. We can’t wait to share them with you because we know these features will help to connect even more Local Guides with one another — and with us Googlers, too.

This July 15, we’re celebrating two years of Local Guides Connect — and you — so I wanted to take a look at what we’ve done together in this time:

• 700,000+ Local Guides are registered on Connect (and many of those log in at least monthly!)
• 300,000+ discussions have been started
• 500,000+ replies have been posted
• 15,000+ solutions have been accepted
• 14 people have become Connect Moderators (though we currently have 13)
• 1,000,000+ kudos have been given

Note: The above numbers include activity from across our community including private boards so they may differ from what you see in the community.

Here are a few of my favorite things since we launched Connect:

• Seeing everyone communicate no matter where they live, the language they speak, or the type of Local Guide they are
• Interacting with so many of you and learning what makes you the great Local Guides you are
• Finding out that many of you have such strong passions that you’ve found a way to highlight with Google Maps and through the Local Guides program. For example, helping to rebuild your city after an earthquake and working with underserved populations in your community
• Connect Moderators: You have a special place in my heart because meeting other Local Guides like me who are passionate about keeping Connect a warm and welcoming place for everyone just feeds my soul

I'm just seeing this thread, but my favorite thing about connect is the ability to experience places around the world first hand from those who live there. Also, being able to share my experiences and thoughts on my worldly experiences is something I enjoy very much. Cheers to 2 years connect!

If you're out for a meal with a chick and you start taking pics of your entree

 Being Trusted I get leads, But GMB fails to explain what it's about

and fact that it costs them Money, So I end up being a GMB consultant.

The click to book a virtual tour should be more explanatory and sell itself!!

This is your product but you fail to take ownership of it?

Whoever came up with the API idea is a plank!!

Took a difficult sell and made it harder, IF, Full enhanced tours were part of

Google Maps it would sell by itself. Who doesn't want to book a table through it?

It would also serve to weed out the Nadir Jokers with Cap Head stitches or worse!!

Booked tours and services through GMB should also take precedence over gumbo

piss head girl photos. Good Night, Good representation of the business??

With a 100 fold increase at least in VR people want to do more with it, Not less!!

Oh great I can have a look around, Pointless unless you can book that table etc

Having a Trusted Tour should mean more, That little green tick of assurance in listings etc.

Lack of Tools - I promote and actively encourage the use of G Suite, They provide me with html 

codes and buttons for my website etc.

These are tools you should provide instead of using 3rd party plugins, I can have reviews popup

if I sell products, But not services? Also, there needs to be a by appointment only option in times etc!

I think my favorite part is being connected with like-minded people we all share the same interest.

we all seem to share the same goal; with being able to provide information for others, to help provide honest feedback to the places we choose to visit, tour, eat and so on.
