One way we’re honoring Black History Month is by helping you find and support businesses that identify as Black-owned in the United States this month, and every month, on Google Maps.

To find a Black-owned business in your area to support, simply open the Google Maps app and type in “Black-owned” in the search bar. For a shortcut, you can also click here to see a populated list of Black-owned shops near you.

Businesses who identify themselves as Black-owned will appear in the search results with the Black-owned business attribute icon pictured above. If you're a Black business owner in the U.S., visit the Help Center to learn how to add the attribute to your Business Profile.

As Local Guides, here are some ways you can continue to support during Black History Month and beyond:

  • Tell the Black-owned businesses you know about this feature
  • Help Black-owned businesses in your community by adding recent photos, fresh reviews, and ensuring their information is up to date

We’d love to hear if there are any Black-owned businesses you’ve discovered using Google Maps. Let us know and share links to your contributions in the comments below!
