Hey everyone! I’m Andrew and I’m the Product Manager for lists on Google Maps. I had such a great time recently at Connect Live, and since then, I’ve been thinking that I really need to ask our amazing Local Guides some more questions. So here they are!

Here are two posts published by me  regarding Google Map LIST - kindly see the status / fate (LINKS given below). If you think, I can be of any use to the Google Map LIST, kindly let me know, please.

Honestly, I have many ideas to make ‘Google Map LIST’, as a powerful tool for travellers, tourists and tourist operators, schools, lovers, researchers, and other hundreds of types of users.

My first post on Google Map LIST was my doubts, regarding Google Map LIST: (it’s Here); kindly notice the interactions; few moderators are really helpful – but, as a retired chairman of a company, I feel that they should take such topics to appropriate people (within Google) for immediate 'solutions' – maybe I am wrong, today. 

The second post was a detailed, ‘written and video’ tutorial (Here); as usual, with few comments, it went into dustbin, in few days’ time; hope you will have a look at the Post & Comments – After long hours of our efforts, when we see such discussions, it hurts. (Professionally, we have many worries, why to add, further? I left the topic, there). 

Of course, I was suggested to publish my ideas in “Idea Exchange” – what is the use? We spend time in creating the IDEA POST & then, spent time to promote our own post, requesting for votes – may not be practical, at least for me.

Let me be frank, dear friend – most of the LG Connect members are casual visitors, & they login for passing some free time – they just come & go – sorry being blunt.

My Yercaud “Map list”, published earlier (a hill station in South India) has more than 100 Google Map locations!!! (yet to add more; felt as a waste of time)

I have dozens of Excel Sheets created as list, as I am a Traveller-Photographer-Reviewer; this serves my purpose, better & simple (time saving).

After all, as rightly asked by my conscious and asked by @HannahSpanna, kindly tell us, why we should create a LIST, which cannot be searched by global community?; at least request you to provide a menu to search for Google Map LISTs in Google Maps.

My list is a work in progress but it is a start with a list of some of the best sites in Timor-Leste for snorkeling and diving. I filled out the survey too and realized that I need to make more lists !!  New Years resolution 😉

Yes i have created 6-7 list out of which only one list is public on google map, which is related to my native land Odisha(Place to Visit in Odisha). In that list I have listed some important tourist place of Odisha.

@Edypriyanto92 Hi, Local Guides is not an paid one. local guide is a community driven program where you help people in Google maps by adding, modifying and reviewing places. you visit for have been to in return you get a lot of benefits based on your contribution. Benefits not in terms of money, like vouchers, google perks and participation in connect live.

Hi! I am very interested in lists. I manage a gas station. We pride ourselves on customer service and the traditional idea of "ask at the gas station"-- that we know directions to anywhere, restaurant recommendations, weather and road conditions at any given moment. I really heavily on Google for this info and I use Google Keep to make myself lists of customer feedback, questions I have answered frequently,  etc. Looking below this comment box, I see doing the survey can teach me about lists. I love being helpful to those that come to our station. Since Oregon is one of 2 states that does NOT have self service  (well, 21of the 36 counties are full serve only), my team of pumpers has a great deal of interaction with the folks that come thru.  Also, we are the last main stop for fuel before heading toward the coast, including Tillamook  (yes, home of the delicious cheese), Seaside and the beautiful Cannon Beach with the iconic Haystack Rock. Regarding your inquiry, if your List would have been put in sharing options as Shared or Public, as having the list shared with you contacts, you should be able to see the counter for follower on the top of the list. For the moment, the counter feature is available only for Android devices.

In case, you may come up with a specific idea that can be shared and to be developed with the community, please do not hesitate to share with us in the Idea Exchange.

Since I know you, can I humbly request you to have a look at my post, here, please? Just imagine, how many man  hours we dedicated to create such posts ? And when we find that these are just waste, without any response -  we lose our heart. Now a days, I don't feel like contributing here, as many of my students & colleagues  discourage me. We really appreciate your point of view as well as concerns.

For the moment, we are having the priority to make progress on ways to have the needed balance, to create an equal opportunity for posts to be recognized by all the community.

With the Idea Exchange, it is a whole process that we are collecting and looking forward to help build up the best constructed proposals, that at the end every Local Guide would benefit. 

P/s: I have learned, implemented and felt your positive approach with the program. If anything, your endeavor at times could have gone unnoticed, but the results are distinguishable.

There are different types of lists. Mines are mostly for places that I wish to visit, but you can also create lists of places that you have already been to and love. To learn more about how you can personalize your own lists, feel free to check this article. In there you'll find different ways how you can make, save, edit or delete a list.

I just submitted the survey and yes. I have done it with my team. We made a folder and share it via social network and our member follow that and will follow the details of the location that we business with them. that is a geat option of google maps.

and it would be better if we could set a notification for new refreshment of the share groups.

Las listas públicas ayudan a otras personas a encontrar lugares del tipo que están buscando. Por ejemplo podés crear una lista de restaurantes con opciones vegetarianas o aptos para ir con chicos, también hay listas con lugares para ir en diferentes ciudades que ayudan a los turistas, o de lugares accesibles en ciertas áreas. Se pueden crear muchos tipos de listas diferentes que ayuden a otras personas.

También pueden servir para organizarte mejor si son privadas, yo tengo muchas listas de restaurantes buenos que ofrecen diferentes tipos de comidas en mi ciudad para poder elegir fácilmente cuando quiero comer un tipo de comida. Ese tipo de listas puede ayudar bastante al planificar vacaciones, y durante en las mismas vacaciones. Esas listas también pueden ayudar a otras personas en la misma situación si las hacés públicas.

Yes, I have ! But i think the GUI for the list is a bit rudimentary. For instance you can't choose images for your list items. It just takes the nearest Google Maps 360° image. I Think that feature should be added since the list is made by you personally, and should reflect that.

That's a really really amazing hidden feature. Thank you @Andrew_C for creating this survey. It is due to this survey that now I am aware of this great feature. Previously I struggled to locate it as there is no separate menu item for this. So I searched for it on Google and understood its functionality. Now I have created 3 lists for the things from my recent experiences. I will create more lists for other things which could help out people looking for the places for there daily needs and excursions.
