Today, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our newly refreshed Street View publish website, featuring the first generation of Street View ready cameras and publishing tools.
What does it mean to be Street View ready? These products are optimized for creating and publishing 360 imagery on Google Maps, either with the Street View app, apps developed by the camera manufacturer, or third-party desktop utilities that use the Street View Publish API.
It’s now easier than ever to create Street View. Many of the Street View ready cameras can record 360 videos and have been designed to capture 360 images on the move. You can quickly capture large areas and show others the places in your communities that are changing the most. When you publish them on Street View, 360 photo frames are extracted from the video and connected to create an immersive Street View experience on Google Maps.
insta360 pro, actually is the only one that is allowed to create street view (car ready) blue paths, is the one we used to map the Half Dome trail. Is fast and reliable, and allows still photos and not only video, you could have with a discount for SVT, stitching is done with dedicated software around 2500 $
istar pulsar, is a new model, previously announced last year, and finally available on the market; has got superior resolution, and I think will work with AI too; i didn't tried during the SVT summit, but is a solid (and heavy) piece of metal; a dedicated backpack will be available soon. It's currently in certification process for SV car ready program; stitching is really an heavy job, and is done in cloud, through a dedicated sw platform with monthly fees (vr.world)
theta V, nothing to add, is a well known tool, and is the only one that support Video mode for SV App
insta 360 one, is a nice toy, and comes with a fun software that allows some special effects (like bullet time); it's really lightweight and easy to use, you can snap into your iphone and start recording 360
360fly, are single lens cameras, i don't really think are great for our needs, i see them more useful as surveillance tools
matterport, it's an entire ecosystem, based on a camera that rotates (instead having multiple lenses) and stitching is done in cloud, in a similar way like istar, but includes also hosting for 3d floorplans
yi360vr is a cheap all in one camera, comparable to theta v and garmin 360, capable of 5.7 k video. Not directly compatible with SV app
istaging is a system that allow easy creation of pano using your smartphone+a rotator+fisheye lens, includes a software to create virtual tours
Hello, I received the email for SVT the new software for publications and new cameras that I found very interesting, this also new mode, if I understand correctly, to take the streets again I'm interested in knowing how to place it in a business action, proposing the sale of road sections is possible?
This is actually pretty awesome - thanks for the heads up, @Yohanad! I haven't usually been interested in 360 but may have to reconsider with this helpful re-launch 😄

Sad that all the cameras which are named there, are not yet fully ready to provide real (no testing) apps, and proper support (except the Pro level devices)
Meh... i have been trying to use InstaONE from the beginning on the official Google announcement and have been waiting with an open ticket whith them since Jun without any real progress, thats why I stated ONE was erratic and far from have this feature as a production ready but more like a beta testing period.
Je remplis toutes les conditionnalités de SV? sauf mon appareil androïd dont l'appareil photo n'est pas compatible: résultat des courses, pas moyen de faire des photos 360°.
One needs to take some of the compatibility claims with a huge pinch of salt in many cases as I have had to learn from bitter personal experience of the Insta360 range as the screenshot appended below should attest in great detail.
It seems that "technical support" these days has been reduced to mindless "cut-and-paste" canned responses from published documents and that none of the issues are actually explored in any depth by the various responders.
I will post a link to the official compatibility spreadsheet from the official Insta360 website as a separate message in case the spam filter prevents it from being shared.

This is the URL for the official Insta360 compatibility spreadsheet ( which at the moment has 132 smartphones listed ) and is hosted on Google Docs.
It is worth checking these details in depth before you purchase a camera for StreetView since some of the models of the otherwise supported manufacturers are listed as incompatible on this spreadsheet.
Misleading if not deceptive compatibility claims about certain products which are currently hyped on StreetView... the slippery claim of "wide-ranging Android compatibility".
Here is a screenshot of the official compatibility list as it currently stands.
It was largely created in 2017 and has only been slightly updated this year as you can see from the timestamps of the various additions.
Please notice that some of the models of the Google Pixel smartphone are NOT compatible.
It is worth sharing the link to this list with anyone who is looking to find cameras which really are compatible with StreetView since the agenda of so many of the official sources appears to be to simply "paper over all the cracks" and to pretend that such products have "wide-ranging Android compatibility".

"When you publish them on Street View, 360 photo frames are extracted from the video"
Is this only referring to the Ricoh Theta V? What other cameras does this work on(360fly 4K, YI VR 360, Insta360 ONE, etc...)? The entire team at Google is being very elusive and will not just flat out say what cameras can use the new Video Mode on Street View.
