Big news about reviews: now they’re worth 10 points!

We have big news for Local Guides: Now, your reviews on Google Maps are worth twice as many points!

That means you’ll get 10 Local Guides points for each review you write, so you’ll reach new levels even faster. You’ll get double points for all your past reviews, too, so this update might have already brought you to a new level!

If you love writing reviews that are packed with helpful info to help people decide where to go, you might be wondering: what about bonus points for detailed reviews? Those are doubling, too. When you write a review over 200 characters, you’ll earn 10 points for the review, plus 10 bonus points for a total of 20.

We’re rolling out this feature over a few weeks. If it seems like it hasn’t taken effect for you quite yet, don’t worry -- it will soon.

My photos aren't as valuable as they were before, but I understand the reasons behind it and this is going to be a good decision for quality content. This discourages people who post 50 photos of one place and decreases the value of all other contribution methods. For me this means harder competition to be the first level 10 lg in my country, because most of my content is fixed map errors and single photographs of unphotographed places.

que bueno por que el sistema de punto esta bien pero en algunas ocasiones son demasiados los puntos que se deben de  tener parasubir de un nivel a otro  los nibeles basicos  son alcansables pero los mas altos estan bien dificiles de alcanzar aunque si se puede  con este nuevo sistema sera mas facil subir de nivel

Though I think that this change would not make Local Guides write better review caz some write just because they want to let people who use Google Maps know the locations more

It is great news! I do suggest to add 25points for videos, as we need to allocate time, a good device  and uploading data is expensive for the local guides.

Also advice the benefits that local guides are offered by Google as we help to promote you
