Why are there no or only very rare perks for Local Guides?

Why is Google so least bothered about appreciating and rewarding Local Guides?

I see YouTube contributors get good money and also get very good perks like silver play button, golden play button, t-shirts, trips and lot more.

Local Guides' contribution plays a main or major role in Google Maps data collection and verification. While Google is making a big business out of Google Maps, why isn't Google treating Local Guides also like YouTube contributors?

Google has collected data worth million at a cost of peanuts.. I call it a good strategy from company's PoV and bad from our side.. but then if there were more perks, then every tom dick and herry would have been doing it and ruining platform on a bigger scale..

I agree with this idea. Youtubers earn a lot of perks. They can even link their Google Adsense to their Youtube channel while Google Local Guides don't get any perks from Google.

Actually you were not offering us ( local guide ) any compliments.. for example: if we achieve 1 lakh subscribers in youtube , they give us a sheild/award . So that it may be encouraging us. Likewise in Google give any kind of complimentary gifts/awards to motivate us once we cross level 5 and also for each levels..

I totally agree.  I am a Level 7 contributor.  Would love to see some perks and rewards like YouTubers get....because I love doing what I love.

Unfortunately Google doesn't care much for the Local Guides. YouTube earns money for Google and they value its content creaters. Similarly Maps are also being monetized.

Google sells the enterprise version Maps to Uber /Ola, Swiggy/Zomato and other map based apps.

The roads, lanes, new address and other data fed in by LGs makes the maps a much better product in the market. But Google does not value the Local Guides.
