Trusted Verifier public list

I would like to propose a new feature; I'm doing here and not in the public Feedback board because of the sensitivity of the proposal.

As we have a SVT for hire list, I think could be useful to have a TV public list.

We know that TV activity should not be considered as a business opportunity, but I think that customers/business looking for help in verify process, could be driven to a TV list where they can choose someone that could help.

What do you think? I don't know if in the official GMB support board is already present a request for verify board; this could be another way to achieve the same result.

Sincerely, Lucio

This is an excellent idea and a most welcome alternative to the other support options.

Personally speaking, I have received far more help and useful advice from experienced Local Guides than from some of the appointed authorities who seem to be representatives of the status quo and far less interested in the concerns of the contributor community.

Having said that I also feel that Google Inc. should be prepared to invest a lot more in some of their own offshoots and that there needs to be a lot more full-time paid employees working in Google Maps teams to ensure that the systems continue to improve and to meet the needs of their communities of their dedicated ( and unpaid ) contributors.

At least one of these new teams should be employed to audit the automated system and to take regular random samples of a section of the "NOT APPLIED" edits in order to determine whether the contributors - or the software - is primarily at fault.

I am not convinced that much is being done to take these issues seriously and the alibis provided by a few  of the moderators are  in some cases  highly suspect.

Most of my work now is in the voluntary sector and so I am well aware of how easily volunteer support can be diminished by middle management behaviour and attitudes.

Perhaps the new Ideas Exchange parts of the forum will manage to raise the profile of some of the issues which have been systematically buried for far too long.

@LucioV

The overlap between GM  and GMB seems a bit vague to me at the moment and I have had difficulty enough years ago when I tried to get the local shops in our area to allow their businesses to be added to Google Maps in the first place.

When I approached a couple of the new shopkeepers who have taken over premises that belonged to other companies many months ago I they were rightly cautious because they thought it would cost them something although I tried to assure them that this was not the case.

I am not sure that many of them have the technical expertise to deal with the Google My Business responsibilities so I will follow the advice given to you and will join that community in the hopes that I will learn the ins and outs and be in a better position to promote it locally.

If you already have experience in this area I would be very grateful if you would share some of it with me ... particularly the potential pitfalls so that they may be circumvented.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

Ron
