We do write reviews of places which are sometimes like mini travelogues. But in routine we write brief, to the point reviews for imparting general information about one place which can give immediate guidance to people in deciding about things.
It looks appropriate and actually desirable that a service of a stature of Google Maps includes a kind of travelogue/trip section in contribute app where we post our write ups about our (or maybe even others') tours, trips, visits or Travels. These travelogues will include our experiences about more than one place. It's scale can be as huge as a continent or a country to as small as a market place, a village, town or a picnic resort etc.. Travelogue should get a title & can include a bigger picture as well as the minutest details about the visit or tour; as chosen by the writers. It can be written in any one style or multiple styles & moods in one article, like artistic, inspirational, descriptive & informative, focusing on culture, food, people or wildlife; or on political/ religious/ ethnic highlights and so on. We can have a provision for covering a travel account in multiple parts/chapters with headings/titles and keep updating the episodes.. And maybe if we wish, incorporate the parts and chapters into one book/booklet some day. Or just start off as a book or novel at the outset!
