Staging & Preview 360 photos Before Posting Using Streetview App

Hi community,

Would like a suggest a feature request to improve workflow and output using a 360 camera.

Presently in Streetview App you can manually blur images, you have pixel shapes not the final result. In roads with cars (registration plates) and busy streets faces it is a very time consuming job.

I wondered if there is a way to pre-upload a 360 image to maps so Street view itself can blur faces and number plates rather it being a manual job.

This will increase workflow especially when photos are connected.

In addition, when going into businesses and protecting privacy of third parties in a shared area it will greatly increase the change of a pre-blur being accepted by aspiring trusted photographers.

I am using the below for Android and version 2.13.03 for iPad.

Thanks

Hey @Phunky,

Thanks for this idea. Unfortunately I am not a great user of the StreetView app myself and not sure if this is already possible. Maybe we can ask @LucioV to pitch in here and if not possible people can vote on this idea.

Good ideas will have a better chance of being implemented.

Hi @Phunky, thanks @GeorgesHR for tagging me in.

Actually I think that something is already present in SV App; I have the same version, and I have an option (I never use it) for automatically find and blur faces on my uploaded panoramas.

Check it into options.

Is this idea requesting a more powerful AI function to extend this functionality?

Hi @LucioV. I have the detect faces option activated too 😄

The request is to preview the image before posting - i.e. see the end product. Now I work on leap of faith. I trust the product, but I'm asking the non-converted to walk water with me. A setting stage is needed before making a photo live in SA.

It is to assure third parties (businesses/organisations) that it meets their privacy requirements. I only see it after posting. For number plates I, I have not yet practiced with them yet. That will be with increased AI. I want to do car parking lots, especially to show narrow exits etc.

Ok @Phunky got your point of view.

Having a preview of the blurred version of the image could be useful.

In effect, a preview is totally missing in SV, but I think this is by design; in the past we used another tool to publish, and we were absolutely blind on the final result. We hit "publish" button and we had to wait to see the result, and if was not ok we had to start over again, and again, and so on (once I hit publish button for 42 (forty two!)) times before getting a decent result.

Now it's easier; what you see is what you get. You hit publish in SV and you are ready to edit connections. But you cannot go back and unblur images, if you made a mistake.

So this could really help.

@LucioV Thanks for coming back so quick. Glad you understand and see the benefits. For quality control, as you said, you can see mistakes and blur them manually. Let's hope it gets made a reality 😄
Thanks @GeorgesHR for connecting us

Hello @Phunky, thank you for sharing this idea. It is not something the team is able to implement at this time but we will consider all ideas, regardless of status, in future program iterations.
