Save as a Draft Option

Please implement "Save as a Draft" option to save an incomplete topic.

In the previous connect forum there was an option to save a post called " Save as a Draft" and we can open and edit anytime. When we start a topic to post in the forum we need to write it at a time, we can't save it as a draft at this moment. At this moment we have "Cancel" "Preview" and "Submit" options. To "Save as a Draft" option is removed from this present connect forum. I think "Save as a Draft" was a nice option to save a post, when we can start a topic sometimes we need to save it for more information or something else we can save it then come back again and edit the draft; after completion we can post it in the forum.

HEllo @AbdullahAM when you start writing a post or idea, this is autosaved after a few seconds  when you have entered all mandatory elements (category/title/some body text). A message to indicate this will appear on your screen.

When you then open your profile, you will find them under the heading Draft - see the screenhot below where I just tested this (both with a post and an idea) to check it was indeed still available in Connect 2.0.

Hello @JanVanHaver

Thank you for your comments.

I have seen that, actuallay i was talking to add one more new button "Save as a Draft", like "Cancel", "Save as a Draft", "Preview", and "Submit"; to ensure and more clear that my topic will be save as a draft and can edit later.

Sometimes it takes time to write a post with high quality( like a post with in-depth stories and great photos), but usually a local guide might not have enough time to compete the post at once.

I think a “save as draft” also needed for writing a post here, so as to allow local guides to edit the post later on and to polish their post.

A post management center might also be good for local guide to manage their published posts or posts saved as draft (for example we can manage our posts in our personal account page)

Hello @GOGONATE this is actually already there. Click your profile picture in the top right corner and in the pop up screen then click My Profile. There you will find tabs like My Posts and My Comments. And there is a Draft tab as well, where the autosaved drafts are shown.

That said: for longer posts, I usually do the writing in a text editing tool and then paste it in a post here when it's done, as text editing here is indeed not very convenient.

Page sometimes crashes while I am doing the edit, especially if I am away from my computer for more than 30 minutes which is why looking after the draft function a bit more would be handy indeed.

  1. Many a times when you have less time or for any other reason, you would like to save a Draft before you finalize and post.
  2. This feature would help in such situations.

@jjmjajaj I agree 100%

Hello @GOGONATE,

Thank you for sharing, but similar idea had been suggested before and I'm merging it - Save as a Draft Option, where you can also find an answer to this idea.
