Pop-Up for "fact checking" if you contributed to a place with photos / review

This proposal is coming from a recent (bad) experience.

A place very well known and historical Abbey has been closed in Google Maps. I have noticed it checking my photos contribution, where now my picture is shown for an "unknown place"

My suggestion is that Local Guides (being Local experts) can be prompted for a fact checking, for confirming that a place where they contributed with photos and reviews is Closed, or has been modified (e.g. Name change, or different category).

I would limit this option to photos and reviews only, because an edit can be made also by a spammer, so I do not want a spammer to refuse a modification of a not legittimate edit

for sure such Pop UP should appear (or mailed) to place owner (manager, creator).

Thanks a lot

Even if the place is fake (or spam) and you are trying to close it? @Oleksandr

I clearly see your point, that is probably the best in 99% of the illegitimate place closure or name change. The closure of a fake place (the other side of the coin) is my only doubt, but we can probably accept this minor risk

@ErmesT

'if the place is fake (or spam) and you are trying to close it?'

In such a case, I suggest using a scoring system based on LG experience and contribution.

for example, to remove fake place this action needs to be supported by 500 votes (5 votes by LG Level 10) or 500 people with level 1. Everybody is engaged and it is more logical.

it is suggested it in the updated idea

@ErmesT Couldn't agree more. Thanks for raising this here. I'm also a victim of this issue.

@ErmesT

I also voted for this idea because with collective knowledge it would be pretty easy to determine the legitimacy of a POI change. Assuming there were already enough contributions (photos, reviews) on the respective place otherwise a spammer can self approve changes. The owner should be considered somehow but not with an absolute vote because often the owner is the spammer. He must have a weighted vote in this process but should not overrule everything. As @Oleksandr said there should be a weighted importance depending on the LG level but this should be combined with this idea exchange and not only depend on the owner as last instance. He also gets informed anyway of changes imho. If the owner has the last decision it is also possible to fake facts that aren't true which shouldn't be possible at all.

I also support this idea.  Who has reviewed and added photos of the place are the people who know about the place. S it would be great if they got a prompt to verify if the changes are good or not. Thank you @ErmesT for this great idea.

Hello @FaridTDF,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I would like to inform you, I'm merging your idea, because there is a similar one, Pop-Up for "fact checking" if you contributed to a place with photos / review from @ErmesT.
