Place within a place - Status changed to: Closed

Hey.

So there is a big, important feature that Google Maps is currently missing, namely an option to indicate that a place is found within another place. For example, check this bakery. As you can see, just under its location it says that it is found within that supermarket. As mentioned by @Flash in this thread, only Googlers can make that connection and there's really no feature inside GM to allow us to easily forward such a connection to a Googler (you could go to submit feedback and whatnot, but then you'd fill up the feedback queue). There's tens of places that I encountered which are found within other locations. There should be some sort of tool that allows you make that connection yourself and then have a Googler approve it and/or have it be approved instantly if you're a Level 10 Local Guide.

This idea has already been communicated with Google and it looks like it has been partially accepted with an option to address place as located in some other place i.e.

There is a Mall named ABC of type "Shopping mall" and DEF Store within this mall on level 1

So an address of DEF if formatted as

1,  ABC, DEF Store, Any street no. 5, 1000, Anytown, Anycountry

will be recognized and accepted by Maps...

yes. this is very important since, there are so many offices and other places in one building in different levels.

Hi @LMG22 this is done behind the scenes. Owners of malls and shopping centres work directly with Google Maps to map the inside of their facilities. When you add a place or visit a place sometimes Maps will pop up and ask "is this inside X" giving the Local Guide a chance to contribute to this. This is done via the Indoor Maps Partner Program. Generally, only big places (and only those who ask Google, that is) do that and I did mention that I am aware of the feature, just that it isn't available for the local guides. And never ever was I asked by Google if a place is within another place, even though I have location enabled. So, by all means, this feature does not exist and there are plenty of smaller places within other places. Tourist information centres, for examples, are usually, especially in smaller cities, within a museum, a city hall, or an association.

All I am proposing is a simple new field to the editing screen in which you can choose if the place is within another place and if yes -> choose place. The feature does exist, but not for us and it's certainly underused.
